Nanny McPhee! Why I didn’t know you shopped here.
January 21st, 2011
What a pitiful caption. If you can’t think of anything funny just say “Look, that lady is dressed like she lived in Victorian times and I don’t know enough about Victorian times to say anything funny.”
January 21st, 2011
What a stupid caption! Nothing about this picture suggests anything sexual.
January 21st, 2011
“Excuse me sir, but my jugs are bigger”
January 21st, 2011
Walmart is alive with the sound of music!

Straight off the runway from the “Little Women Line” by L. Allcott
January 21st, 2011
I think it’s lovely. She probably came from a Renaissance Festival or a reenactment of some kind, and needed milk on the way home. (OMG, I go to Renaissance as a pirate wench–hope I never need to hit a Walmart in costume!!) I think folks could stand to dress up more, anyway. This is beautifully refreshing, and I think the comment below the picture is not really appropriate, honestly.
January 21st, 2011
It’s for Civil War reencating. She most likely just came from an event that or she is cooking for her unit and had to get food.
January 21st, 2011
It’s Virginia so chances are she works at Williamsburg. This is nothing compared to shit-stained underwear and fat women with shorts sucked into their cracks. This woman is actually cool.
January 21st, 2011
Times were alot better when people dressed like this.
Look at what we have devolved too at Walmart..
January 21st, 2011
What a pitiful comment. If you can’t think of anything witty to say why not go back to the Better Homes & Gardens website you just came from.
January 21st, 2011
maybe shes on her way to a renasiance fair.
January 21st, 2011
i love her outfit , tough shit if you don’t. there is nothin bad about this
January 21st, 2011
She’s just a living example of walmarts new advertising slogan ” Walmart its so cheap even mother Hubbard can afford to fill her cupboards”. And come on she’s harmless compaired to the other horrors – or whore-ers of Walmart.
January 21st, 2011
Actually it is a cool picture! Someone in a reenactment group can be much fun. At least she is not a hood bitch or a trailer trash. Good picture, but lousy comment.
January 21st, 2011
It’s already been said but I echo that the caption was in poor taste and poor judgment. A few minutes of actual thinking would’ve produced something far more amusing and suited for the photo.
She’s probably just coming back from a fair, a play, anything. Sure, it belongs on this site but let’s be creative here.
January 21st, 2011
I like the comment. This site is for making fun of and laughing at everything. Loosen up folks it sounds like your wound tighter than Janet Reno.
January 21st, 2011
BuzzKill is right…chances are she works at Colonial Williamsburg. No biggie. He’s also right about her actually looking cool compared to others we’ve seen on this site.
January 21st, 2011
JIL, I was thinking just the opposite. I think they did a jim-dandy job of coming up with a caption.
January 21st, 2011
I think that the caption sucks! She is a Civil War Re-enactor and I have been in Walmart and many other stores dressed like that too. It’s actually kind of cool that he picture made it up here!
January 21st, 2011
I like the caption, but the woman deserves our respect for coveing up. I would much rather be behind her than some fecal covered sweaty fat man, or someone with pimple covered skin hang out in all directions.
January 21st, 2011
You look like you can sing, we’re looking for a few more carolers!
January 21st, 2011
To the people compalining about the caption… you’re just mad because you haven’t made it the pages of POW!
January 21st, 2011
@Boob. Renaissance started in the 12th century till the 17th century (1600′s) this is a Victorian era dress. Think of Charles Dickens or Gone with the wind. Just saying…….
January 21st, 2011
A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down!!
January 21st, 2011
she’s got enough room under that thing to be riding a Clydesdale…
January 21st, 2011
How refreshing to see a properly dressed lady. The caption is just tacky and crude…
January 21st, 2011
Laura Ingalls, all grown up.
January 21st, 2011
Looks like she is telling him there is room for one more under her dress to “taste her wares”
January 21st, 2011
from the happy look on her face i say the entire cast of munchkins along with the 7 dwarfs are getting it on under that thing right now…
January 21st, 2011
As someone who lives in Northern Virginia, she is probably on her way to a civil war reenactment, and her outfit is authentic to the period and they aren’t cheap.
January 21st, 2011
Nope, that is Mary Poppins and she came in on the Shitty-Chitty Bang Bang Express.
January 21st, 2011
OMG, I laughed out loud when I read that caption. I don’t care what others say. I love the caption!
January 21st, 2011
I strongly suspect she’s got a hot little body under there.
January 21st, 2011
@Aint I right if you don’t want tacky and crude….why are you on POWM? Just saying. The pic doesn’t seem like POWM material to me… but the caption was hilarious
January 21st, 2011
I’ll admit I have conflicting thoughts on this. While I am enough of a feminist to recognize how women were suppressed in Victorian times (they couldn’t even vote!) and would never want to return to those conditions, I must admit that her appearance is much better than the walcreatures we see on here.
At the same time, I love the humor of the caption. Did you know that some doctors actually manually, um, stimulated their female patients to “release nervous tension”? Sad to think women knew so little about their own bodies.
Sorry for the history lesson – rather a hobby (obsession) of mine. lol
January 21st, 2011
I like it atleast nothing is hanging out….I’m a big girl so I know to wear shorts that go from my waste to my knees and wear shirts that cover my belly drives me nuts to see a large girl wearing something that is obviously 10 sizes to small so there is belly roll above her pants or seeing it exposed. Not every person can be skinny but it is possible for everyone to dress nice.
January 21st, 2011
I like it. I’m not seeing anything I don’t want to see.
January 21st, 2011
I love that!!
January 21st, 2011
i dont see antyhing wrong with this pic or funny………….why is she a creature?
January 21st, 2011
Mary Poppins’ flying umbrella broke down so she flew in on a magic Wal-Mart shopping cart to pick up some milk.
January 21st, 2011
One way to hide a cute ghetto ass.
January 21st, 2011
HORRIBLE, horrible caption looks like a kid wrote it… There have been ALOT of stupid captions lately but this!! THIS!! Is BAD!! She looks very nice and maybie even a nicer person. She looks beautiful and has guts to wear that around stupid imbeciles like the one who wrote this!! Good job on the picture taking though!!
January 21st, 2011
Actually, I’ve done this before, usually accompanied with a guy in a kilt. Not at walmart, but sometimes you have to run in to get emergency water bottles for the Ren Fest/Highland games/Victorian holiday dance/Sci-fi Con.
She looks quite lovely in my opinion.
January 21st, 2011
I do historical reenactment but of a much earlier period (the Middle Ages). We actually do get some amusement out of having to make a Walmart run in full garb (our “costumes”). We call it “freakin’ the mundanes”. We laugh harder at you guys pointing and whispering at us than you laugh at us as we pass by.
January 21st, 2011
I didn’t know that Mary Todd Lincoln was a Walmart shopper!
January 21st, 2011
I love the cape with the hood! Where can I get one?
BTW the caption sux a**, she looks awesome.
January 21st, 2011
As a historical reenactor, I can tell you that this costume is Civil War or early Victorian – not Renaissance (400 years difference) nor Colonial Williamsburg (200 years); therefore, she is probably shopping before or after an event.
My car broke down on my way to work at a Renaissance Fair and I had to stand on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck in garb. Really, shopping at Walmart is so much better than that.
January 21st, 2011
If that picture was taken anywhere near Williamsburg, that’s a normal sight. There’s a lot of historical/re-enactment crap up there and it’s her work uniform
January 21st, 2011
She looks a LOT better than most “featured creatures”. Covered, neat, tidy…. I just hope that store isn’t too warm, since an outfit like that has to be pretty warm for the wearer.
January 21st, 2011
A spoonful of medicine helps the ugly go away.
January 21st, 2011
I think that she’s most likely from the Richmond area, as they have a lot of re-enact-ors (pardon the pun) on site. I love the cloak!
January 21st, 2011
Apparently you must be a perv to write the captions here. It’s a cute picture and I don’t mind it being posted, but the cutline is totally uncalled for.
January 21st, 2011
Mercike – I’m with you – given the time of year, I’m thinking Dicken’s Festival. Either way, depending on whether she made her outfit, or purchase, you’re looking at around $500 to 1K in wardrobe.
January 21st, 2011
Good day to you to,maam. Why yes, I would fancy a shagging, but I would prefer the fondling beforehand, thanks.
January 21st, 2011
One time I saw this movie and it had a bad witch in it and she melted. I think she is pretending to be like that. Or she wants to be warm.
January 21st, 2011
Why waste space on a well-dressed reenactor when we could be laughing at furries?
January 21st, 2011
Definitely Civil War era, and absolutely not inexpensive. I do Colonial American re-enactments, and can agree with Essiesmom on the price. I frequently have to stop at the grocery store in my ‘working clothes’, and wouldn’t have given this lady more than a passing glance.
January 21st, 2011
I live two hours away from Wmsbrg, and these people are all over. They are not supposed to be as the costume belongs to whoever employs them, but as said above, this is prob hers. Hand made, I am sure. ( Oh, and the caption did make me lol however inappropriate:()
January 21st, 2011
Had the photographer asked, I’m sure this woman would have graciously agreed to a photo. (I would love to see her bonnet.) Many have guessed that she is from Colonial Williamsburg…just goes to show the ignorance of most people. As a fellow Civil War reenactor, I have gone into Walmart and other grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, etc., dressed in period clothes. Although I have to admit, I usually leave my bonnet in the car.
January 21st, 2011
Love the picture…nothing wrong with it…there are people who do dress like this….but the comment, not so much. Why do you need to make a sexual comment over something nice like this?
January 21st, 2011
Ok, yes the caption is FUNNY. I dont know about peeps who live in the middle of bum-F nowhere but out here in CALI if some magic card playing, Renissance fair goin’ weirdo was just out and about in that fit’ UM THEY’RE GONNA GET LAUGHED AT–and DESERVE IT.
on what wolf- sweatshirt wearing planet do u’ll come fromt that you say she looks GOOD? Wow!
Geez, maybe I’m shopping at a different J-Crew then all you blind folks.
She’s straight out of Hocus Pocus’s wardrobe. I wouldn’t be surprised to find Hanzel and Gretel up under that skirt too!
January 22nd, 2011
I’m Looking At The Picture & Wondering Which Part Of The 18th Century That Nutty Edwardian MotherF**ker Flew In From………Show Us Your Pocket Watch!
January 22nd, 2011
I think the comment is very funny & fitting for this site. The picture is so boring that we may as well make something funny out of it. Its like a scavenger hunt. You have to come up with your own comment if you dont like the one provided.
January 22nd, 2011
nice outfit although i cant help thinking shes shoplifting a giant beachball under that dress lol
January 22nd, 2011
I totally love this picture! And the caption made me laugh right out loud. Gawd people get a sense of humor. sheesh!
January 22nd, 2011
I hope that she is on her way to a costume party. That is some outfit.
January 22nd, 2011
She looks nice. Glad though that I don’t live in a time and age where a female had to wear all this stuff. Must have been hotter than hell during the summer months.
January 22nd, 2011
I know a few other Civil WAr Reenactors have spoken up but now it’s my turn!! YES this is Civil War attire and this weekend in virgina is a huge event. Not only is the event huge, but it caters to quite a few wealthy women. If you like history let me tell you, as far as a Victorian woman in such a hard time for our country goes, she’s dressed very well. I myself go to so many events a year that my Civil War attire feels more normal than my ‘steet clothes’. I’ve also lost count of the times i’ve gone to Wal-Mart dressed liek this to pick up supplies for the weekend. LOL Trust me, it takes guts to go into the modern world like this. Cudos to her.
January 22nd, 2011
“Mr. Humphreys, Leave My Pussy ALONE!”
If you have never watched Are You Being Served?, you have no idea what I’m talking about and you have missed the BEST British sit-com ever.
January 23rd, 2011
Why can’t we red or green thumb the original caption? If you’ve been here 5 minutes, y’all know I’m not in any position to cry foul over being inappropriate but we should at least get to vote on it.
January 23rd, 2011
See! This is what happens when Walmarts are built on hallowed grounds. The ghosts of the dead start walking the aisles.
January 23rd, 2011
Jeez you people need to lighten up. The caption was perfect if any of you understood anything about humor- and juxtaposing the prim and proper lady with a bawdy suggestion
What a bunch of uptight morons.
January 23rd, 2011
@Scott: I agree! The caption made me laugh out loud.
January 23rd, 2011
Since this is in VA, she could very likely be headed home from her job at Colonial Williamsburg and needed to make a quick stop. The caption is extremely stupid.
January 23rd, 2011
wow a lot of you need to lighten up and get a sense of humor.. there is nothing wrong at all with the caption for this picture.. most of you are acting like you know this woman personally or that the person who wrote the caption said something horribly sexually explicit about your grandmother.. chill out and laugh with the rest of us.. the lady was not hurt in any way nor does she probably even know she’s on this website.. the caption made me laugh my ass off which i definitely needed after a long day.. so please just think a little and calm down before you rage about something as stupid as this
January 24th, 2011
Recreationists are fun people. I love her cloak!
January 24th, 2011
Bean had a better caption to this photo. Looks like a CW reinactor stopping in for some milk on her way home. Big shitting deal.
January 25th, 2011
Bean had a better caption to this photo. Looks like a CW reinactor stopping in to pick up some milk before going home. I love the cape or cloak.
January 25th, 2011
One last time – This is not Williamsburg! Williamsburg is Colonial. This woman is wearing clothes from the Civil War Era which is over 100 years later. Sheesh.
January 26th, 2011
To Do List
Frickin’ stupid Civil War reenactment
get milk, eggs & butter
January 26th, 2011
I don’t know if era re-enactors count. We have wallyworld near the local Ren Faire. That and every shop around fills up with with people dressed in garb every weekend.
January 28th, 2011
SON OF A MOHER DUCK !
January 28th, 2011
IMO, she is the best-dressed person on this site.
February 1st, 2011
hey mary poppins. when ur done gettin the milk, can u swing by the baking isle and pick up a spoonfull of sugar, it helps the medicine go down
February 2nd, 2011
This is probably a Mennnonite/Amish lady. Very nice !
February 6th, 2011
Yep, she has plenty of clothing on, nothing showing (thank you God!) I just hope the alarm does not go off as she is exiting the store, could give the door greeters a stroke trying to check that skirt =)
February 6th, 2011
@KingDavid,
Good one! Except Mr. Humphreys is a pofter!
February 15th, 2011
Truley this is a Civil War state and if this is at Williamsburg it’s completly understandable!
February 26th, 2011
A very lovely day dress worn by a true LADY. Your comments were uncalled for and rude.
March 2nd, 2011
I have grown up in the town of Williamsburg, VA, and I actually know this woman. For everyone arguing that this is Civil War era garb, I just want you to know that she does, in fact, work at/for Colonial Williamsburg.
March 10th, 2011
Im commin Dorothy. Im gonna get you uand your littlew dog too!
March 15th, 2011
Nothing wrong with this get-up one bit! It’s classy and refreshing compared to the rest of the creatures slithering around on PoWM. Slow day, poster?
May 26th, 2011
She works at Colonial Williamsburg. http://www.history.org/
Williamsburg was Vrginia’s first Capitol and is at the Heart of the Historic Triangle in Virginia. Down the road from Jamestown and Yorktown. At one point, this area WAS America.
