“Roe” is actually one of the strongest pro-life supporters now. She feels she was basically used for the court case to push somebody else’s agenda – so sad.
As for people commenting that increasing birth control (the one who said, “Wear a condom!”) is a way to bring down the number of abortions, that is actually not backed up by stats. Did you know that Planned parenthood, largest abortion provider in the US, has released numbers showing that of all abortions they perform on “unplanned” pregnancies, half of them were on women who were using contraception at the time they conceived?? Contraception gives people a false sense of security, where they think it is fail-proof, and often they use it incorrectly despite being educated on the correct way to use it.
Abortion is sick and terrible, and a symptom of an even sicker society. It is absolutely wrong – but contraception isn’t going to reverse that. It has only made it worse. Look at the links between the beginning of the widespread availability of contraception and the increase in promiscuity, children born out of wedlock, increased abortions, increased teen pregnancies… you can google it to find more info on how the two (contraception and abortion) are intrinsically connected.
As for the slogan on the back of the car, well, I suppose that could reduce abortions if some people did it, but it is tacky as heck to put it on the back of a car. We do have free speech, but we should also care about the children growing up in our world who don’t need to be exposed to such phrases at age six. No class at all.

I’ve never figured out contaceptives can be used incorrectly. Condoms, the cheapest form (unless you go through a pack a week), are essentially idiot proof. Anyone who can’t figure them out shouldn’t be having sex anyway, for a variety of reasons. The pill is pretty easy: put it in your mouth and swallow. People who use the “contraceptive” method of pulling out are either idiots who believe in tempting fate or are really poorly educated, which is only half their fault.
Abstinence is without a doubt the most effective form of birth control, I’m pretty sure everyone agrees with that, but that simply can’t be the extent of health education in today’s world. I agree that it should be stressed, but if we don’t fully education people we can’t expect them to make good choices.

Yeah, I am going to “firebomb” something – it’s obvious I am so filled with hatred and rage because of how I personally insult people by sharing facts they may find enlightening. When you hurl insults and “dislikes” at facts, it shows you have no intelligent response. Condoms aren’t idiot-proof since they can break. They actually only claim to be about 93% effective at preventing pregnancy. Obviously, abstinence during the fertile part of a woman’s cycle is 100% effective. The education given to people should include this information – that there is no way to be 100% sure unless you just don’t have sex. They need to know that any sex has the potential to result in pregnancy.
The pill is somewhere between 97-98% effective, so more than condoms but still not quite 100%. Also, some people get sloppy about taking them at the same time each day, which reduces their effectiveness. Yes, it shouldn’t be that difficult to remember, but apparently it is for some. Also, men tend to pin a pregnancy on the woman as “her fault” when she gets pregnant while on the pill. I am sure women may do the same thing to men when a condom fails. It pits people against each other. It also sets them up with a more “invincible” attitude, and they are more likely to engage in more sexually risky behaviors, increasing the chances of unintended pregnancies.

I married young at 18, had one daughter at age 19, then used the birth control pill for the next 16 years, correctly, and had no more children. I’m 48 now, still with just the one daughter-who is now 28 and the only one of her friends that doesn’t have any kids because she wanted to wait until she’s married-she also uses the pill. The pill CAN work if you’re responsible, take it regularily, and are on the right one for your body. It all boils down to being responsible when it comes to sex, plain and simple.

Yeah, I come here primarily to laugh, but I also care about issues and know what’s going on with life issues at the personal and political levels. So they think I have to put on my “PoWM hat” when posting here? Ha ha.
The funniest thing to me is that they take the time to write (sometimes lengthy) insulting responses… why do they care so much? They could just ignore it. I obviously care deeply about the contraceptive mentality and what it does for abortion, so I feel I am spending my time wisely to spread info whenever I can… and they are reading it, so my goal is accomplished. @Jami – You forgot to mention that the people paying Roe’s lawyers hijacked the lawsuit. Roe didn’t even want an abortion from the very beginning, and her lawyers TOLD her to say that she was raped because it would help her/their case.
Abortion is one of the most barbaric things liberals try to talk women into doing. Also, that “wonderful” organization PPH targets black women mainly. Look at where most of their locations are. Inner cities with a high black population. Also, black people make up about 12% of the nation’s population, but have about 35% of the abortions. That is 3 times as many as they should be having.
And don’t forget about Margret Sanger, the founder of PPH. She was very much into eugenics, and trying to get enough black people to have abortions that there numbers could be reduced, if not completely elimainated. The black population is the only section of our society that is actually shrinking in relative size. This means that their absolute numbers are going up, but at a much slower rate than the rest of the nation.

People who shelter their children are the reason teen pregnancy is so high…My parents may have inadvertently exposed me to sex at a very young age, but I didn’t get knocked up in my teens. I don’t even have any kids now! You know what they say about the quite, shy ones. They are the freakiest of them all! I support abortion, but only in the first trimester and if the reason is valid, such as incest or rape. I don’t think it should be the method of “birth control” for irresponsible people.
Oh yeah, and on the note about birth control. I would recommend and IUD. I have one and it works the best. I am also in a monogamus relationship, so I don’t have to worry about diseases.
All those tramps out there who are screwing around and getting pregnant should be sterilized. A lot of people out there should be sterilized, for MANY reasons.

Wow, I must hold some special power over you if I am able to “force my opinion down your throat.” Through my computer, I am able to force a complete stranger to read what I write on a thread of comments. You apparently have no choice and cannot just skip over my posts. I didn’t realize I had this ability, even to the point that you have given yourself a nickname after me.
They say that indifference to an issue is the worst, because there is very little hope. But if an issue elicits strong feelings, either positive or negative, then there is hope for change because even the negative opinions show that people care about something and have feelings about it enough that they will say something. Having a large number of both up and down votes on several of my comments here, as well as people addressing me specifically, shows me that they care to one degree or another. That is a good thing. People do pay attention, even on a site intended for pure fun and silliness. Gives me hope for humanity.
People seem to really distort the definition of “tolerance” lately. Is it tolerant to think that everything written in a public comment thread should be pleasing to you? If you share your opinion, which people can choose whether or not to read, that is somehow intolerant? Tolerance really means respecting everyone’s opinion – disagreeing and debating is still tolerant; resorting to name-calling and slander and insults is not. i do think people easily forget that each of these commentors here is a real, live human being, not a faceless nothing. Just because we can’t see each other doesn’t mean we aren’t all real human beings who should speak nicely to each other rather than say rude things… like a bunch of people did to “Barb” a few photos back. barb is a real person, just like each of us… and nobody needs to be referring to other people in derogatory terms just because they have no recourse and it doesn’t seem “real” online. Most of us (I hope) would never say these things to a stranger face-to-face!

I am sure there are girls who lie about their contraceptive use out of fear and being young and scared. But Planned Parenthood keeps track of how much birth control they hand out and how many abortions are performed. They also have a research arm which has done studies showing that in the US, the more contraceptives that are made available, the more abortions take place. There are some countries in which the number of abortions does go down with more birth control, but in the US the numbers go up together.
There is a brand-new book out called Unplanned, in which the former director of a PP clinic “blows the whistle” on various practices of her former employer, like how they encourage teens to not report the age of the fathers of their babies (teen girls who were having sex with men over age 18), and how they actually try to increase the number of abortions because that is how they make money. The more free condoms they give out, the more likely people will come back to them, thinking they are good-hearted, when those condoms fail.

I find it interesting, as well as disturbing, that you both assumed I was talking about poor people. I re-read my post, and it says nothing about income, only race. Just because black people are being targeted, doesn’t mean that they are poor black people. But yes, PPH likes to set up shop in the lowest income areas, because that is where they get the most business.
Just in case you didn’t know, there is an HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. Every country on the continent is affected by it. Almost all of the countries promote the use of condoms, but it hasn’t helped to even slow the rate of new cases, let alone do anything to help in any kind of meaningful way.
One exception, if not the only one, is Rwanda (sp?). They decided to start promoting an abstinence program, and their numbers of infected citizens has fallen to rates at or below those here in the US.

Oh, btw Devil, I have lived in the inner city in an area that was very middle class and no obvious poverty around. I have also lived in poverty in a small town while I was a child. I know both sides of the coin, and that you don’t have to compromise your morals and values, just because you don’t have money.

I think it’s utterly silly that sooo many people have commented on how this could “destroy the innocence of a child who knows how to read”… my children aren’t well versed in adult sexual language so therefor wouldn’t know what it meant. What are you teaching your children or letting them watch that they would know what sucking a dick is? Just sayin…

I am actually from Floyd County in Iowa, and I’m not sure if I should stop laughing to be appalled that this fool is from somewhere local! I just want to say that actually we are not a HUGE county and I may live in almost the largest town in the county and I have NEVER seen this vehicle! My husband thinks that maybe it was a picture taken by a local guy who sells car decals. If I ever saw that on a car, I’d complain to the police department because kids could read that!! WOW! It was way funnier before I knew it was from my back yard! LOL

You mentioned that you have no kids, yet have an IUD… um how is that possible?! I also use that form of birth control and all the literature I read (after having my child) said that you cannot have one placed unless you’ve had a successul pregnancy.

The increased number of AIDS/HIV cases that occur on the African continent are due (mostly) to the superstition that an infected person (typically a male) can be cured if he has sex with a virgin. Most of those sexual acts are rapes, and the girls often end up pregnant; which then leads to the girl and her baby being infected. That’s the reason they have a high number of infected people and that number keeps rising!
