Get Your MMA On
So Walmart now offers MMA training. I honestly can’t think of one scenario where that isn’t a fantastic idea. I’ve long been yearning for a one-stop place for me to pick up a tight fitting Tapout shirt to better show off my gut, let someone with big muscles and cauliflower ears to slap me around, and then pickup some frozen taquitos to eat/put on my black eyes.

Walmart is turning into a mall, seriously. The one by my house has a subway, hair and nail place, eye doctors, photography area, an area set up to get your taxes done, and the automotive department gives out car washes. Nothing like a one stop shop…

I have been into martial arts, considering taking it back up again, (last year was Ice Skating), but I don’t think having it in a grocery store is such a good idea. Seems like a conflict of interest, or at least it does in my mind.

1. Anyone who knows anything about MMA knows there are respected schools out there. They are not found in Walmarts. This is the equivalent of all those fake-ass karate places that popped up in the 80s. some douche with no credentials decides to get a license to open a place and ‘instruct’ people how to punch. I’d bet a Big Mac bought at a Walmart that he doesn’t teach them correctly, probably doesn’t even give a crap. Just take the money and run Billy Bob.
2. Anyone who doesn’t see the humor in this or thinks this is legit probably still watches WWE “cuz its real man!” and/or is actually a member of this lame class.

I’ll tell you problem #1: The kid is wearing MMA gloves.
Beginners do not train w/ MMA gloves or light-weight gloves. Not unless you want them to f’n break their knuckles or hands.
No shin pads, and barefoot. All signs of a place that has no clue what they are doing.
This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen, and I’m surprised Walmart even allowed this. Better double check that insurance policy!

BTW, in my blind and uncontrolled hatred for the pics I just saw, I do realize that you train barefoot, regardless if beginner or not.
But ask anyone that has taken muay thai, vale tudo, jiujitsu or MMA in general, but all of the above looks precariously suspicious.
If you’re kicking and punching and in training/beginner, you have shin pads and boxing gloves.
If you’re learning wrestling/jiujitsu, you wouldn’t need the gloves.
This place is a sham.

The really amazing thing here, is all the people here that actually seem to think that this ia a Walmart offering!! Sorry guys, but this is NO different than having a bank in the store, and you don’t call that a “Walmart bank” do you?? This is space that they are RENTING OUT!!

umm…. well he has no shin or foot pads because It is a cage fitness class. They do workout drills like lifting the bags. It is a fitness class, not Martial Arts. Do you even know who is teaching? the 2008 Golden Gloves World Champion. …fyi

There is a certain amout of marketing genius involved here. Wm gets the parents of the kids to shop for the 45m class, and the MMA place takes the winey “can we go home yet ” kids of the shoppers. Win, win for both businesses and families if done correctly.

I actually know this guy from my town… Schizo affective bipolar with crippling skills.. cant wait til he gets arrested for beating a guy down in his own yard. and the golden glove champ part? If you know him, you know his MMA fight record… like his last fight was ended by submission in the first round pretty quick cuz he didnt like getting slapped in the back of the head lol
