I don’t imagine you care, but I must tell you I’ve seen your “People of Walmart” forwards and am very aggravated.
Does it make you feel better about yourselves ridiculing and putting down people who are different from you or even most people? If everyone was a slim, blonde, conservative dresser, what a boring world it would be. I respect your right to free expression, but I don’t at ALL respect your meanness to the fat, old or gay. And, no, I am not one of your Peoples of Walmart.

As for the people of Wal*mart….. if you don’t want people to talk, then don’t leave the house looking the way you do. You honestly can’t expect to go out in public dressed like that and not hear some kind of ridicule! Yes, you live in a free country, but we have the freedom of speech!

the argument that “If everyone was a slim, blonde, conservative dresser, what a boring world it would be.” really doen’t hold any water…I’m pretty sure other things in the world would be happening that would be worth interest, frieda. and no one can tell me that the people in these photos are contrubuting anything of value to society simply by being extremely tasteless.
ps. no one is mocking brunettes and overweight people. it’s people, who by their dress, are screaming for attention- not people who are simply a liitle abnormal

Uh, I’m overweight and go into Walmart all the time. I am not a Wal-creature, because I dress like I have some sense. I don’t let my butt hang out and I cover up my stomach. But if I did dress like a nasty ass, feel free to make fun of me because I probably deserve it. No one is making fun of the old or the gay, but if they can’t dress right, they can’t be mad about it.

The truth hurts. Im not the slim blonge type but I also don’t leave the house with fat rolls hanging out in all different directions. If you don’t want to be featured on POWM the 1) wear something that fits….over everything 2) don’t leave the house in just underwear and 3) for God’s sake burn the spandex!!!

Actually, I have been lurking for many months here and really, most of the remarks are not horribly insulting…they are simply observations that speak for themselves. I think most of the folks here are too deeply in shock at pics like a grandmother who would wear a “I like it from behind” T shirt or someone who would willingly go out in public wearing see through panties at any age.
Are some of these people mentally disabled??? possibly…but they All cant be. Theres WAYYYY too many of them and honestly, if you can drive a car, if you can get to Walmart on your own, if you can shop, make choices and handle money, you should have the mentality to understand appropriate dress.
And{speaking as the mom of a mentally disabled adult son} when he goes out with his group for a shopping experiance you can bet your bottom dollar he and his equally retarded classmates are neatly and appropriately dressed and blend in perfectly.My God, they wouldnt let my son on a special needs bus if I let him dress Creatures of Walmart style.The number one first lesson we strive to teach our kids is personal hygiene, cleanliness and a decent appearance.Yes, our kids may have mental problems, but you wouldnt know it from a distance cause everyone looks , dresses……and behaves…sane and well behaved.

Here is a brief classification system I have been revising.
1. The Wow Factor – common traits, mom and dad didn’t love me enough syndrome. Now I have to dress completely inappropriate so people will look at me and notice me and essentially love me. Sad, because they are usually awesome people that are trying waaaay to hard to be something they aren’t.
2. I’m Still 18, Right? – common traits, mostly female, usually don’t understand that their Hello Kitty back pack doesn’t go well with a cesarean scar. Also that the short jorts aren’t that great when your cottage cheese butt would make Neil Armstrong nostalgic. Lastly, the ones that have skinny bodies but have more lines on their face than a mirror at Studio 54, wearing their grand nieces tank top.
3. The Deer Hunter or Camo Carl – You are in store, not the Pacific Northwest up in the Rocky Mountains. We don’t care that you hunt, we don’t care if you would blend in right next to a Black Walnut Tree, we don’t care to smell the deer piss you smeared on yourself. Take a cue from good old Bobby De Niro and learn when to let it go.
4. The Big Rub – common traits, people in such a derelect condition you wonder if they have just given up trying. These are the truly sad ones. We don’t know if they have issues or they just don’t care. We can only hope that someone who loves them will help them.

Yes I enjoy mocking people who look weird to me. Surely you too are laughing in your mind to people who don’t look like they meet your standards. I dress everyday with combination of cyber goth and steampunk. I laugh at people who have pearls around their neck and white clothes. I think you laugh at me same time. Eh, I’m by no means a conservative dresser. I like paisley shirts and white pants. Yep, I even have a pair of red jeans in my closet. Yes, I’m male, living in Manhattan, and in my early 20s. It’s not off the wall here.
The difference is, when I wear slim fitting white pants paired up with a blue linen blazer and a paisley shirt, they look you know… good on me. Partially because I have about 9% body fat and a flat stomach. I can dress a bit on the eccentric side because it’s fun and I still look nice or interesting when I do it rather than just bizarre or offensive.
The average person on POWM doesn’t look interesting or fun when they do it. The fit isn’t “tailored,” it’s bizarre and eye-burning.

I grew up in the town in which “Once Were Warriors” was based. I was verbally and physically assaulted on a daily basis for my refusal to dress like the people on this site – so yes, it does make me feel good to view their pictures and laugh at them.
