Evie, we had a “K”raut Volkswagon bug with a sunroof painted red, white, and blue with stars and stripes in 1976 for the bicentenial celebration. Our country went nuts celebrating- I was just a kid. I’ll have to ask my dad if he got any Kraut comments. Happy 4th everyone!!

OK , people have to realize that we as AMERICAN’S have the right to our opinions. Personally, I like what that person did to that ‘KRAUT’ car! Also think about this, almost 75% of all cars manufactured have parts or complete vehicles from foreign countries, FIAT is a good example, Italian made (now they own Chrysler) Chevrolet, almost all of the new cars are based on the Australian Holden! I will say no more!

While many of today’s immigrants want to keep their country of origin’s culture but the goodies America provides, in the past immigrants came and EMBRACED the American Way contributing with their labor and ideas, not looking for handouts and demanding their rights as so many immigrants, especially illegal ones, do today.

And there’s a difference between “Kraut” and “German”. BIG, HUGE difference. (and for the record, I have a German name, related to the WII pilot/escape artist/ace…. shouldn’t be too hard to find)
But, you don’t see many of those “things” around any more. Never did care for them too much, but this is is actually pretty good looking.

The irony is at least quadrupled by the fact that this picture was taken in Michigan, former home of a good portion of the industries that helped smash Hitler’s war machine.
