Woman Thrown Out For What She Was Wearing

EUGENE, Ore. — Two Junction City sisters are asking an Eugene Walmart for an apology.

The women say they were thrown out because of what one sister was wearing.

It all happened at the Super Walmart on West 11th Sunday.

Sandy McMillin and her sister thought it was going to be a typical stop, but it wasn’t and ended with them being kicked out.

“I was horrified in that they’re throwing me out of the store, for wearing this. I was like, ‘Hello!’” said McMillin.

If she would have just obeyed the Wal-mart Dress Code….daisy duke shorts and tube tops if you weigh at least 300 pounds, no shoes, poop-stained pants, and animals costumes…..this wouldn’t have happened.

Sorry but what??? She has no right to go around in the store like that!!! Would it be ok to go to the store wearing only a bra? NO!! The bikini top is not different. Sorry, but she’s wrong, they don’t own her any apology, if anything they should just enforce the dress code ALL THE TIME.

I took the time to read the full article and the news crew sent in another woman dressed exactly the way this woman was and their decoy wasn’t asked to leave. You can’t have selective enforcement. Either that isn’t appropriate attire, in which case the news crew’s decoy should also have been kicked out, or it is, in which case the original customer should have been allowed to stay.

This Wal-Mart just got screwed over. With the news crew’s decoy as evidence, the customer can take them for a large sum.

I read the article and watched the video also. Yes, the news crew’s decoy was a hottie. Kick her out? #3ll, I’d follow that around the store. However, they did mention the policy was usually enforced when a customer complained and she (and I use that term loosely) said that she and her sister had been outside working in that all day so I am sure she reeked. Then there is one of the comments below the article from a local who has seen these two around and also mentioned that they are always around, dressed poorly, spreading their stench and cussing like a sailor. Even in the video the woman sounded like she was half way through a case of beer.

When asked why she thinks she was targeted, Sandy said “because I’m tattooed and the stigma that goes along with tattoos.”

NO, tats had NOTHING to do with it. tattoos are not even that interesting anymore, since even “soccer moms” have them. the problem is that she looks like some kind of sideshow freak, and her attitude that it shouldn’t matter to anyone else…”if you don’t like the way i look, don’t look at me” doesn’t work in public, where everyone is forced to look at everyone else.

how hard would it have been to put on a shirt? seriously. a store…any store, is not your back yard.

Thank you Wulf for having something that evidently 99.5% of the rest of the commentors here don’t; READING COMPREHENSION! The article very clearly stated, “The woman said employees also told them the policy is usually only enforced when they receive a complaint.” Wal-Mart is obviously in the business of making money. And as such, why would they kick out paying customers? Once it gets to the point that it affects other/more paying customers then, and only then, would they be compelled to take action. Sending in a little hottie dressed skimpily, proves absolutely nothing, other than no one there wanted to complain about her. Evidently, all the large, hairy-pitted, “women’s libbers” were elsewhere that day…

I think if more people in this world would keep their nose up thier own ass as much as they do others and just mind their own freaking business this world would be a much, much better place. for all the people out there talking mean stuff calling the lady fat and stuff ya know what your the nasty kind of know it all busy bodies that make this world a worse place. We are all human and we all live in the same toilet bowl it’s jerks like you that make it smell worse though. The lady should be able to wear what ever she wants without the world screwing with her . Believe it or not our Soldiers dont go out and fight for Americans freedom to criticize and be cruel they fight for freedom , freedom to be who we are , freedom period! So if your gonna scaff at this lady and make fun of her then you certainly dont support our American troops and YOU should leave this country … um… like now!

As a Wally World employee I just want to say that I don’t believe there IS a dress code policy, apart from the whole no shirt, no shoes, no service thing. And while a bikini top doesn’t cover all that much, IT STILL COUNTS. I think it’s crap that they’d kick this woman out and not some of the other people who are featured on this site. Especially since they didn’t “enforce” this so-called “dress code” with someone else later on.

I’m 50/50 on this one. First, she should have obeyed Walmart’s policy. No shirt, no shoes, no service. A swimsuit top DOES NOT count as a shirt. However, if anyone else was wearing a swimsuit top and wasn’t thrown out, that’s discrimination, and Walmart should get in trouble for that. So either let anyone wear the tops, or don’t let anyone wear them at all. It’s that simple.

    Please!
Wal-Mart is privately owned. It’s not public property and they have the right to ask anyone to leave the property. They don’t need a reason anymore then you or I need a reason to ask someone to leave our house. I for one am glad to see one of the managers finally grow a back bone and allow it to happen. Where what you want when your in your own home but have some respect for the rest of us when you choose to step outside that door. I personally don’t enjoy people sweating all over food or clothes I might want to buy.

This is BS. Here in Florida you get the occasional bikini top, or top and bottom…if she’d been 20 and 115 lbs, nobody would’ve said anything. People get away with bringing their purse pooches in there, and nobody says anything. I’ve had a lady with a bikini top on who was covered in grass because she mowed lawns, and she got to stay.

I think she has every right to complain. In most people’s eyes, she’s not attractive, but as far as I know, Walmart has no code against that! She could be convicted of bad taste, but nothing more. Just because one is overweight-tattooed-freaky does not mean you have to adhere to a different set of rules to shop at Walmart. these women are ruining it for all of us… walmart will start enforcing their “dress code” and we won’t get to see any more “people of walmart” =(

anyone ever consider they purposely went in there to cause a stink so they would get kicked out and have grounds for a lawsuit? oh wait… they’re probably not that intelligent.

Just for the record—last weekend we went to a lake for a few hours. Decided to stop at a nearby Roses (a lot like Walmart, for those not from around here) in Henderson, NC. I had on a one piece bathing suit and white cotton shorts. Suit was wet with brown lake water so of course, so were the shorts. I am a good 25-30 pounds overweight and in my early fifties. I don’t think I even got a second glance. And I was not the worst dressed person there either. Cashier was friendly and cheerful. Would I have gone in if they sold food like most Walmarts? No, that’s just not appropriate to go in a grocery store in dirty/grungy/damp from lake clothes. That’s gross. Maybe I was gross too—didn’t really care. But I sure didn’t take anyone’s appetite away while they were grocery shopping. One look at this broad there to buy sour cream and every bit of the milk and cream in the place turned sour. But hey, let’s get the record straight—she was not “thrown out,” but rather, ASKED to “cover up or leave.” Had I been in a two piece, I would never have gone in.

Good! Now if they would only kick out some of the other disgusting things walking around – but of course we wouldn’t have a website for entertainment, then.

Normally when a customer is asked to leave is after several other customers have complained….so it all comes back around huh?

I agree with others, that a young attractive woman might not have been asked to cover up.After the publicity, the decoy wasn’t asked to cover up do to the fact that they didn’t want more publicity.Seeing all the guys and some girls with low riding pants with their underwear and butt cracks showing is much more offensive.

I’m sooo sick of people boo hoooing about this.. seriously i work at walmart and its disgusting seeing half the stuff we do.. idk if their white, black, indian, hispanic, from the age 10-90, no one wants to see it. I hate how people blame everyone else for the things that happen to them. If you can afford to travel to walmart and spend money you can afford a tshirt pants and shoes.. end of story

I honestly don’t think it matters how bad she smelled even. If I complained every time my local walmart had a person in it that smelled bad they wouldn’t have any employees.

On second thought, I take that back. It’s insulting to rednecks to call her that. She’s a hot mess. And so is her sister (wear a bra, lady!).

Oh, my. And at the university (that UO one in, you know, Eugene) orientation there were cross dresser and LGBT booths sporting a good deal of, em…more liberal students prancing about in skimpy, lacey lingerie. Not all of them were in the best of shape. Obviously the campus is a bit more..accepting of fat tattooed peoples in revealing clothing. I’m also visiting the very same Wal Mart tomorrow to stock up on some dorm things. Perhaps I’ll gather a group to prance about in bikinis and daisy dukes, see how management feels about it.

Starme ~~I think you have a skewed vision of what freedom is, what our soldiers fight daily for, where freedom ends, and where responsibility begins. Our soldiers fight so that we have the freedoms to live without tyranny, and so that we can use the rights our forefathers conceived as unalienable. The right to freedom of speech is one of those. You are completely within your rights to say as you wish, but just remember those same rights pertain to my freedom of speech also. And your freedoms with you views end at the tip of my nose. At no time should I have to put up with your smell if you repeatedly enter into a public forum. This is where RIGHTS END. You also have the right to complain to the management if what I do or say, or even smell like is offensive to you. Don’t pretend that you are better than anyone else here, and also do not fool yourself into thinking your views are normal. Personally, if someone smelled like a sewer, and they made repeated trips to a public store smelling this way, I wouldn’t care if they were wearing a tuxedo, I would still ask them to leave, or ask the management to do so. You are miserably misinformed if you believe that in ANY CASE, you have the ability to offend me or others repeatedly. To do so, proves your self evident education, your lack of morality, your vision of a utopian world where everyone “just gets along”, and your views on freedoms we American currently enjoy. Look a bit closer at yourself before you rant off and tell others they are miserable forms of humans… You are the offensive ranter here… Everyone else is holding a conversation about this individual and how much right she had to push herself into others “zones” with her unimaginable funky smell. Lemme come shit on your porch.. I mean we all have the freedom to do as we want WHEN we want right? So by your reasoning, I am fully justified within my rights to come shit on your porch and eat your dog… It’s my freedoms! .. Bah.
