One Time At Band Camp
You laugh, but that’s exactly how Louis Armstrong got his start….what’s that? Oh that’s completely wrong? Yeah, it didn’t sound right as soon as I said it. Oh well, then I guess she is just some weird band chick.

What else is a budding musician to do on a cold wet damp day when your too lousy to practice at school or at home?
Take the parents pick-up and head down to Walmart for some paractice time where you’ll fit right in.
February 3rd, 2012
Someone please drop the truck in drive and step on the gas

I can’t tell what it is……so we’ll call it “Pat”………Pat is auditioning for the new Door greeter’s position……..It seems to help run the parking lot stragglers off too.

Where her hat or trumpet case to collect tips?

Wal-mart is now offering drive-up band lessons in their parking lot.

Thumbs up to her parents for coming up with a solution to getting the kid to practice without having to listen to it at home.
February 3rd, 2012
Are you kidding? Band chicks are the greatest! I was a band dude when I was in high school here in Colorado. Band chicks understand you like no other person could.

I wish I had had the tenacity to practice the piano like this girl practices… I might be able to play better now.
Of course, getting the piano into the back of the truck wouldn’t have been easy…
February 3rd, 2012
The world is my stage…oh wait, make that a pickup truck!

Need attention much?
February 3rd, 2012
Give the girl a break, she’s probably trying to earn money to go to college. In this economy, what parents have the extra money for that?!

It’s hard to tell from the pic but I believe she is playing a cornet (a shorter less brassy sounding trumpet). I played one in school too. I loved to play but was a perfectionist and would get so upset with myself for mistakes I eventually gave up. What a shame. If she has the courage to practice in a parking lot I predict a great future for her. Kudos to this sweet young lady.
As for Pyramus99 Where the hell do you thing beginners learn? And for that matter you’ve obviously never seen a professional orchestra play. THEY USE SHEET MUSIC. Just because you, Pyramus99, learned to blow on your father’s dick without a map doesn’t mean musicians make it up as they go. If she gets good enough she’ll be writing those notes (that you can’t read) on paper some day and you’ll still be dancing to the skin flute.
February 3rd, 2012
Well chances are she was conceived on the back of a truck so I guess she’s just taking after her mamma but giving a blow job to a different instrument.
February 3rd, 2012
FAIL POWM! She’s fully covered and not causing any trouble……..There is nothing wrong with being in band, and if she wants to play in the WM parking lot, so be it……….Maybe they live in an apartment and she doesn’t want to bother the neighbors…… In order to be a good player, you have to practice!

Chuck Mangione’s car alarm.

February 3rd, 2012
… I’m in band… I switched off of trumpet to euphonium… I’m glad I made the change now!
To the girl, “That’s so trumpet player of you. ” Trust me, trumpet players do a lot stranger than this!
February 3rd, 2012
There she blows.
February 3rd, 2012
5 more minutes and I’ll win the award for the most minutes practiced this week…

February 3rd, 2012
This could quite simply be how she marks the fact that she got laid last night. No big deal.
February 3rd, 2012
Shouldn’t this be Mega Lo Mart and Chuck Mangione?

Well, at least she’s fully clothed and engaged in something more intelligent than the usual run-of-the-mill Walmart creature!
February 6th, 2012
Has anyone ever considered that doing something like this is a psychologist #1 recommendation for people who suffer from shyness or stage fright. Walmart just happens to be a very public place. Get that practice in, and fight your demons at the same time. We should all have such courage
February 6th, 2012
This really creeps me out
February 7th, 2012
HIGH FIVE! I’ve totaly done this but with a trombone, a flute and a mellophone while we were waiting for our marching band line up time. But we did improve….then ran around walmart making racecar noises with the trombone
February 7th, 2012
One should never joing the marching band if one is too lazy to march (good thing party trumpet prices were on rollback this week).
February 26th, 2012
this reminds me of Chuck Mangioni from King Of The Hill…. lol
March 1st, 2012
Hey this gives me an idea!!! Next time my 12 year old clarinet player mouthsoff…I’m taking her to the nearest Wal-Mart and setting her up!… On second thought, who am I kidding I’m gonna put her in the car and make her do for sh*ts and giggles!
March 5th, 2012
Nice truck….
April 27th, 2012
Actually, assuming I’ve identified her right (which I’m fairly certain I have), it was part of a marching band practice during a state competition, if I recall correctly. The girl went to my school and was the marching band conductor, She’d play the music with them to make sure she was conducting right. Seeing as the scaffolding the Band used for conducting was actively in use by the theatre department (who owned it in any case) and they didn’t need it for the competition, they didn’t take it. They did alright. Basically, unless she decided to do that in her free time, what you’re not seeing is about 40-50 other musicians with their sheet music clipped to their instruments. They use parking lots because the spaces for parking allow them to measure their movements like the lines of a football field.
