its one thing to dress up your dog for a picture. but people who insist on dressing up their dogs on a regular basis need to look into getting some dolls. dogs are not dress up toys.

You people are so confused. Chihuahuas are NOT dogs. They are Mexican rats from the Mexican state of Chihuahua. My dogs, who really are dogs….Pitbull, Doberman, and Great Dane….would be embarassed by wearing clothing as should the people who dress their rats in clothes.

@ Mellie It’s you who are confused. Mark Twain said “It’s not the size of dog in a fight, it’s size of the fight in the dog” I have owned Chow Chow’s German Sheppard’s Rottweiler’s and currently own a Boxer/Pitt bull mix. My Chihuahua rules the roost.

First of all, for those of you who are whining at people who put their dogs in clothing, according to my vet, small dogs, like chihuahuas, NEED to wear clothing because they get colder faster than larger dogs. My dog, Minnie, who’s a miniature maltipoo, actually refuses to leave the house unless she’s dressed. She even has favorite dresses. I’ve tried to make her go naked but she starts shivering a lot and acts ashamed.
Considering she used to be a breeder dog in a puppy mill so she lived a horrible life until rescued I figure if she wants to dress up every day, she’s more than earned the right.
As for chihuahuas, those little buggers can be extremely vicious and protective of their humans. They’re tough enough without dressing punk!

We have two dogs here: an American Staffordshire terrier (AKC version of a Pit) and a rescued Chihuahua. Radar is so skinny and has very little coat, so he MUST wear sweaters nearly all year long. However, my husband buys him t-shirts and sweaters that are practical without a funny haircut or bit of lace in sight.Yes, he’s my HUSBAND’S dog!

Aww, they’re cute. Dressing them up s a little silly though. I put sweaters on my dogs, but that’s because they’re cold, not for fashion.
I also have a chihuahua, and with him being the smallest dog, he is the alpha male.

Let’s play “SPOT THE REBEL” (Spot is not a proper noun in this case). If you guess the one in the middle, sorry but you lose. The one on the right looks dressed for the role, too, but that’s also a losing choice. The one on the far left is indeed the rebel because he’s clearly defying the city’s leash ordinance (unlike the other two submissive wimps).

I love Chihuahua’s, and mine has a pretty pink coat. Its to help keep her warm when its cold. She may not love the coat but she is warm and looks cute in it. As for not being real dogs, mine kept a creepy neighbor away while my husband was out of town. He heard Chihuahua’s were mean. THey can be, but mine wasn’t, thankfully he didn’t know that!

Small short-haired dogs like Chihuahuas need to wear clothing when they are in cooler climates because they chill so easily. Remember, this breed is a native of Mexico. OTOH, there is a difference between dressing a dog for warmth’s sake and turning them into a walking fashion disaster…

Are you kidding me? Chihuahuas don’t NEED toughening up. They are much bigger on the INside than they are on the OUTside. Some of you, including whoever wrote the caption to this pic, need to meet an actual chihuahua.

Indeed, Chihuahuas don’t realize how small they really are!
I’ve seen my two boys, AND my little girl take on dogs 10 times their size!
Of course, I never let them get close enough to do any damage.;)
The reason they shake so much?
They’re about to snap, and go all psycho on somebody!
(Believe me, I know, I have the scars to prove it)….
