Makayla, people of both genders have hair in front of their ears. The lady’s hair is just too short to pull up into her braids, so it’s fluffy and curling. NOT the same thing at all as a man’s sideburns!

Gran’ma is ahead of the game, having someone take the time to give her more than a perfunctory sponge bath. Show me an old lady with a complicated hairdo, and I’ll show you someone whose relatives DIDN’T forget her at the nursing home. You go, girl, and good for whoever is looking after you too.
Also for all of you ragging on the sideburns and fuzz, the correct term is ‘cleaning up the kitchen’, and refers to trimming anything that does not go into braids or dreads properly. At that age, you-all will be happy even to HAVE hair, so hush.

Good point Gearhead. I was the only grandchild who bothered to go see our Grandmother in the nursing home. My Mom and I made sure she was taken care of, as you said. Hope someone cares that much about me if I wind up there.

I don’t really see anything amusing about this picture. She looks like light or mixed, and it’s the most common easy hairstyle for blacks, just cornrows. In the procedures manual in nursing homes it says to cornrow african american geriatric clients SHRUG. Silly white people!
