The Dragon Car
Wait Wait Wait. I don’t care how cool you think your car is, you don’t get to give it two names. It’s either the Dragon Car or the Swag Mobile. Since it’s obvious you can’t make up your mind I’m leaving it up to our fans to make that decision for you. Unfortunately for you, you have now opened yourself up to new names as well. Be decisive next time.

Actually I think it says Smaug Mobile – not Swag.

SMAUG! as in the dragon from Lord of the Rings
October 4th, 2012
It says ‘Smaug Mobile’ not Swab Mobile, Smaug is the dragon in the Hobbit book
October 4th, 2012
It’s not “Swag Mobile”. It’s “Smaug Mobile”. Smaug, for the uninitiated, is the name of the dragon in “The Hobbit”.
October 4th, 2012
That doesn’t say swag…it’s Smaug, the dragon in the Hobbit
October 4th, 2012
DUDE!!! Major fail on the part of POWM!
First, that front bumper does NOT say “SWAG MOBILE.” It says “SMAUG MOBILE.”
SMAUG was one of the last of the dragons of middle earth. He figured prominently in Tolkien’s “The Hobbit.” He was a bad-ass dragon.
SWAG? Hoo-boy.
And the two names are fine, because the front one (SMAUG MOBILE) is the car’s name. The back one (THE DRAGON CAR) is just a qualifier. Smaug is a dragon, and the car is about Smaug, so it’s a dragon car.
October 4th, 2012
I believe that’s “Smaug Moblie,” as in Smaug the dragon.
October 4th, 2012
Dude – it’s SMAUG, not SWAG. Smaug *is* a dragon (see The Hobbit). However – this does not excuse this car. It’s a travesty and I say, KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!
October 4th, 2012
While this car is in no way cool, it’s theme makes sense. It’s not Swag Mobile, but Smaug Mobile. Smaug is a dragon from The Hobbit, and the shit glued all over it is his treasure. Pretty ridiculous none the less, good catch.
October 4th, 2012
“Swag mobile”? Really? It’s quite clearly “Smaug Mobile”. “Smaug” being the name of the dragon from The Hobbit. Serious loss of geek cred here for PoW.
October 4th, 2012
It’s not “Swag”, It’s “Smaug”. As in the dragon from The Hobbit.
October 4th, 2012
Swag Mobile? Tsk Tsk POWM. Where is your knowledge of Tolkien lore? I mean, isn’t everyone supposed to be a nerd these days? It clearly says, “Smaug Mobile”. ;]
October 4th, 2012
It says Smaug, NOT Swag. As in the dragon from The Hobbit.
October 4th, 2012
That’s not “Swag”, that’s “Smaug”, as in the dragon from “The Hobbit”.
October 4th, 2012
Blogger Fail!
The front bumper says “Smaug Mobile”, not “Swag Mobile”. ‘Smaug’ is the name of a dragon with a massive treasure trove in the J.R.R. Tolkein novel “The Hobbit”. So, “Smaug Mobile” and “The Dragon Car” are kind of the same name. It’s like translating from Nerd to English.
October 4th, 2012
It says “Smaug” not “Swag”
Smaug was the dragon from The Hobbit…
which would make it a dragon car.
It’s still batshit crazy… But your criticism is not entirely accurate.
October 4th, 2012
What it must be like to know that you finally have arrived…
October 4th, 2012
That doesn’t say swag… it says Smaug, the name of the dragon in The Hobbit.
October 4th, 2012
It doesn’t say Swag Mobile, it says Smaug Mobile… as in the dragon’s name from The Hobbit. Maybe it’s name is Smaug Mobile The Dragon Car? Whatever it is… it’s tacky!
October 4th, 2012
Smaug is the name of the Dragon in the hobbit so it really is the dragon mobile, just hording its gold, and an ugly ass car.
October 4th, 2012
The front actually says “SMAUG MOBILE”… so what’s SMAUG you say? It’s what all us old timers played before MMOs. It’s “Simulated Medieval Adventure Multi-User Game” or as some know it as a MUD.
October 4th, 2012
dude, it’s smaug-mobile, the dragon car. one name, no swag.
October 4th, 2012
Ahem. “Smaug” is the name of a dragon… He’s in “The Hobbit”. The car has one name. And I feel incredibly geeky for knowing that…
October 4th, 2012
You gotta turn up the nerd-factor here… it’s not “Swag”… it’s “Smaug”… the dragon from The Hobbit… which also explains why it’s covered in “coins” and “treasure”…. sorta. Still… very PoW-worthy.
October 4th, 2012
…but doesn’t it say “Smaug” rather than “swag”? As in Smaug, the dragon from The Hobbit? So “The Dragon Car” is a description, and “Smaug Mobile” is its name. But I still think he should’ve stuck with one or the other
October 4th, 2012
It actually says “Smaug Mobile.” Not Swag. Smaug was the dragon in The Hobbit whose armor was made up of his treasure that he slept on.
Yes, I’m a nerd.
October 4th, 2012
Um… the front says Smaug as in tfhe dragon from The Hobbit. Not Swag.
October 4th, 2012
It’s “Smaug Mobile” which is a character in “The Hobbit”!…as for the car…one can only hope those larpers with their PVS swords will soon come to vanquish the offending combustable tyrant!
October 4th, 2012
That’s “Smaug Mobile”. Smaug is the dragon in the Hobbit.
Walmart has a good price on reading glasses, you know.
October 4th, 2012
Smaug (not Swag) is the name of a dragon from Lord of the Rings (I looked it up). So they both sync. All is good.
October 4th, 2012
Looks more like something happened in Denver…
October 4th, 2012
It says ‘Smaug Mobile’, as in the character Smaug from the Hobbit.
I still don’t get “theme cars”.
October 4th, 2012
It doesn’t say swag though. It says Smaug, who happens to be the dragon in The Hobbit. So the Smaug Mobile Dragon Car kind of makes sense. Just sayin’
October 4th, 2012
That’s Smaug, genius. As in Tolkein.
October 4th, 2012
no, it is the Smaug Car. Smaug, the dragon from The Hobbitt??
October 4th, 2012
It says Smaug Mobile. As in the Dragon Smaug from The Hobbit. Take a closer look begore you berate the guy. That having been said this guy DOES need to get a life
October 4th, 2012
Smaug was the dragon in the Hobbit
October 4th, 2012
“Smaug,” is the name of the dragon in The Hobbit, by JRR Tolkein. So this car only has one name. It is covered in gold to portray the greed this dragon has in the book. It is not “Swag,”
October 4th, 2012
I think it actually says smaug mobile…smaug being the dragon from the hobbit….
October 4th, 2012
It’s “Smaug” , the dragon from “The Hobbit”.
I read it like this, “Smaug Mobile, the Dragon Car”. Makes sense to me.
October 4th, 2012
uhmm.. it says Smaug mobile.. Smaug was a dragon in some fantasy novel (The Hobbit maybe?). So it kind of fits.
October 4th, 2012
jeez, wasn’t expecting to see so many grownups admit to reading a book about orcs and elves
October 4th, 2012
It says “SMAUG!” and I decisively declare that PoWM has earned the two new names of “Mr. Can’t Read” and “Snarky Pants Fail.”
October 4th, 2012
More like “The Bedazzled Beater.”
October 4th, 2012
Smaug or swag, who gives a shit. Some people have to much time and money on their hands.
October 4th, 2012
Can none of you nerds read the other 39 comments saying the exact same thing?
October 4th, 2012
I love how every comment except the one from Busted is dedicated to pointing out that it says “Smaug Mobile” instead of “Swag Mobile” and then proceeding to explaining who Smaug is. You know, cause one person pointing that out isn’t enough. Everyone has to point it out to make it true. Anyway, we’re supposed to pick the car’s name. I’m going to go with “The Virginator.”
October 5th, 2012
…..and this clearly demonstrates the problem with POWM’s new comment system – because no one can see comments as they are posted every comment is basically the same, a spelling correction.
October 5th, 2012
What is up with all the Artcars? It’s PEOPLE of Walmart. Not ARTISTS of Walmart. I highly doubt the owner has a mullet and side boobs.
October 5th, 2012
Everyone beat me to it, but that says “Smaug”, which is actually kinda awesome.
October 5th, 2012
How about
“POS” ?
October 5th, 2012
OK, OK, folks I think everyone is on the same page here (with the exception of Nomad who’s been smoking something my ranny wouldn’t approve of).
Nothing to see here, move on, move on….
October 5th, 2012
How ’bout we just go with “Virgin Mobile” and quit bitchin’ about the Smaug
error?
October 5th, 2012
Does anyone know what “Smaug” means???
October 5th, 2012
This dude will NEVER, EVER, get laid..
October 5th, 2012
so…I just read 50 comments of people saying its Smaug the dragon not swag….did no one else read all the comments before commenting on this?
October 5th, 2012
Piece of shit dropping stuff onto the road is what I’ll call it.
October 5th, 2012
“Smaug” or “Swag”…unadorned, it’s Onslow’s car from Keeping Up Appearances. And I’m sure it belches fire & “smaug” as an added bonus.
October 5th, 2012
Do none of you smart asses realize these comments are moderated, and all those were written before any were visible?
Even if you didn’t already know, it doesn’t take a genius to figure it out.
October 5th, 2012
what’s a hobbit?
October 6th, 2012
Ha ha ha ha… he spelled smog wrong
( I know, I know, but I couldn’t resist)
October 6th, 2012
And who says that living in your mother’s basement is not good? Love all the f-ing geeks that posted. The Pic was shot outside of the new Wal*Mart in Brooklyn Center , MN – Biggest White trash magnet in the state.(actually the biggest Wl*mart – same thing)
October 6th, 2012
Looks like we’ve got a Swag/Smaug Epcot thing going on here.
October 6th, 2012
That guy lives a few blocks from me. My kids get a kick out of seeing that car driving around. That new Brooklyn Center Walmart is not quite WHITE trash, but it is trash.
October 6th, 2012
I have just one question……..Why ??
What possesses a person to do this to any car??
October 7th, 2012
So i think we get it now… its not swag. got it. thanks for the 60 out of 62 comments on what it said. ugh…
October 7th, 2012
Holy cripes!! I’ve actually seen this car on the road! It was at night so I thought it was just a hallucination. Amazing.
I saw the driver, and it was a moderately attractive woman in her late 20s/early 30s. Probably not a virgin, definitely not a basement dweller, but most certainly an awesome D&D-playin’, Tolkien-readin’, dragon-lovin’ girl-geek.
Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
October 7th, 2012
“Smaug” you idiot. If you’re going to post something then get it right.
October 8th, 2012
well i was going to be the nerdy asshole to correct him and say it was the “smaug mobile” but it seems like everybody else has already done that… thanks guys!
October 9th, 2012
the fact that our wonderful narrator read the front wrong, has absolutely no bearing on which name should be given this car. It is, hands down, the Dragon car, because somebody need to be Dragon it in to the damn junk yard.
October 10th, 2012
I’ve actually seen this car and have pictures, too! My boyfriend and I saw it at Petco and couldn’t believe our eyes. Totally awesome!
October 13th, 2012
What I find Funnier than POWM screwing it up is how many people here have actualy WATCHED or Read The Hobbit.
October 24th, 2012
i find it funny that the car produces smaug and is dragon his ass all over town…
November 5th, 2012
I would call this the Pennysaver. That’s just me though.
December 11th, 2012
I think that if you post anything about the name not being “Swag” after this, you’re really not reading anything, the first probably 20 posts are about how it’s wrong, and the same thing has been repeated over and over, you should really just give it a new name or move on, the point has been made.
