Diaper Dandy
I’m not sure what is going on here. If this is precautionary to prevent poop in the car, I’m a bit worried. If something happened to the dog and he can’t control himself then I’m sad. If he put them on himself, then I’m extremely extremely impressed. However, no matter what the scenario is here this is just something you don’t see everyday.

My guess is that it’s probably a female dog in heat. We had to put those on our dog before we got her fixed. Otherwise, there’s a nasty mess. :/

I have a friend whose family actually put pull-ups on their female German Shepherd when she had her period for the first time last month, so this may be why it has a diaper on, assuming it’s a girl. Other than that, leaving it in a car is just wrong.

Sometimes they are used on female dogs that aren’t fixed because they bleed all over the place. Not sure this is the case, but I’ve see it before.

Why is this a big deal??? There are such things made as doggie diapers, especially for female dogs who get their periods still. I am impressed that the dog doesn’t have the diaper in 1000 little pieces! My male dog gets excited occasionally when someone comes over that he hasn’t seen in a while and piddles on the floor. Maybe this dog gets excited on car rides……

Or, it could be an intact female dog who is in heat. When the dog is in heat, she’ll drip blood all over the place. So, either they could put a diaper on here and take her out to go bye-bye, or they could leave her confined back at home.
They don’t make sanitary napkins for dogs, y’know.

Not that you normally see a baby diaper on a dog, as they make dog diapers, but she’s probably just in heat. I’d be more concerned with the fact that she was left in the car with the windows rolled up.

I don’t think it’s covering his butt (that would be impossible unless you cut a hole for the tail), so it seems to just be preventing urine. I have a yellow lab also, and he used to have an issue with letting loose his bladder whenever a strong emotion was felt, like us coming home or if a hose dared cross his path. It could also be a medical problem, but I feel the better solution for that would be to leave the dog home and not leave him in the car while shopping at Wal Mart. Then again, maybe they just visited the vet and the owner is buying something for the dog real quick? We can’t know. But hey, my yellow lab loves car rides with a passion, so if this is the only this dog can enjoy the car, power to him.

Wtf? I never will understand why people bring their pets when they go out. But maybe the dog is female and its to keep it from bleeding onto the seats.

I actually did have a friend that used to do this when her dog went into heat. It was very effective at catching the blood.

She looks old. They probably have to keep the diaper on her, because she is incontinent. Although that doesn’t look like a doggy diaper, it looks more like a baby diaper. :\
Incontinence eventually happens to everyone at old age…..including dogs.

Putting diapers on female dogs is common practice when they are in heat. It prevents them from bleeding all over your home and car. It may look a little funny, but it’s not animal cruelty, nor is it uncommon.
Sorry, but not really a funny post for anyone who knows anything about dogs.

Nothing to see here. This is actually fairly common when a FEMALE dog goes into heat. The diaper sucks, but it sure beats blood all over everything.

Well I am guessing here, but he looks like an older dog, and I say HE because when male dogs have urine incontinence problems this is one way to keep them from peeing everywhere, They can no longer control it, and there is no medicine or surgery to fix this.
On the other hand, this dog should not be locked in a car, that is animal abuse 100%

We had a 15-year-old Doberman who was incontinent of bowel and bladder during the last six months of her life. She was happy and healthy in every other way, and we couldn’t make her live outside, so we diapered her. I think that’s the opposite of cruel.

You can’t see the top of the window or the other 3 windows, so how does anyone know they aren’t cracked? As for the diaper, looks funny, but a lot of people use them on dogs for various reasons (they make doggie diapers!) and it is definately not cruel. And yes, maybe they were on the way home from the vet and had to stop for something for the dog. That has happened to me.

This dog is too old to be still going through menstruation…most likely a male dog with urinary incontinence that leaks pee so the “diaper” is appropriate. This will also prevent male dogs from marking inappropriately…

This is something you would see every day at our house. My rescue dog was born with a very small bladder and it is in the wrong place, a birth defect. She wears diapers and loves riding in the car.

old dog- look at it’s face. Fur looks a bit ragged, plus the elbows look a wee bit enlarged (arthritis?)
And, who can tell if the window is cracked? You can’t see the top of it. Plus based on the reflection of the tree without any leaves on it, and the label that says it was taken in Washington tells me it’s probably cold enough to not worry about ventilating the car.

Really people? With that package? Do you know what a female looks like? Obviously not. Here’s a hint: Females do NOT have large bulges between their legs like this dog has. HE is a MALE.

If you look carefully, the diaper is not covering the rear end, as would be necessary for pooping or a dog in heat, but wrapped around the dog’s “waist”. I would guess that it’s a male dog in this case and wearing a diaper most likely to keep it from peeing in the car, whether voluntarily or involuntarily.

This is a common site at my house as I have a male bichon who looovves to mark. As soon as he comes back inside, pee, pee, pee. Except I use a cloth one and put adult depend pads in there. When I go shopping for that stuff, I do wonder what people think of me. lol

We currently have a diaper on our female dog. She’s in heat. She went into it before we could get her fixed. They bleed. So you either buy a doggy diaper for them, make one, or buy little boy tighty whiteys and put a maxi pad in it. It’s not that weird.
