Not something you normally see at your local Walmart, but I’m actually pretty used to seeing this at anime conventions and Comic Cons. It’s called “Lolita” style and it’s a Japanese fashion that’s made it’s way to the States. There are a lot of teen-mid 20′s girls (and some guys) who are into it. A lot of the J-Rockers do it too. The look varies from ‘Sweet Lolita’ like this gal to ‘Gothic Lolita’ which is a lot like the US goth fashions with a bit more flair.

I’m thrilled to see people pointing out that this isn’t a bad choice of clothes, but rather the Lolita side of fashion. No one would be saying anything if she were in something off the runways of paris, but that would probably look even stranger. Restores some of my faith in humanity. Thanks, everyone.

Actually met this girl in person a few times at the local mall. She dresses as a lolita all the time and is a really sweet girl. No local conventions, but she still dresses up and goes out. Has different wigs/extensions to match her outfits.

Lolita is a fashion, it can be a cosplay, but most Lolitas dress this way even when they’re not going to a convention.
And like others have pointed out, Lolitas spend a large amount of money to dress this way, not that it should really matter how much they spend, but it’s who they are and it makes them happy.
They spend countless hours researching fashion and pulling together “coordinates”.
You may call Lolitas “crazy” or hideously dressed, but they’re not bothering you.
Best of all, they’re not hanging out of their clothing unlike most mainstream fashions today.

I can’t believe y’all. She is wearing a GREAT lolita coordinate and she is totally rocking it. I’ve been in walmart in lolita far too often and I am surprised it’s not me, let me tell you, she looks better than I have looked when I’ve ended up in the Union City Wally World at 1 AM because we needed to grab something fast on the way home from some event or other. Please get over yourselves.
At least she is wearing a full set of clothes! When you consider some of the things that people DON’T wear in Walmart (like pants or a skirt)…and you’re criticising HER? Please.

To all the people saying this is cosplay, it certainly isn’t. It’s a japanese fashion called lolita, and she isn’t ‘cosplaying a lolita’. All these mean comments are making me sick,… calling her a hooker, don’t you have better things to do??? She looks lovely. I dress in sweet lolita often, and go out in it as well, and I certainly would not like people taking photos of me without my permission . and for the people saying she looks pregnant (that’s also incredibly rude), she is wearing a petticoat fyi.
