Burn One Down
Whoaaaa! Grandma, this isn’t the 50′s, you can’t just light up wherever you please anymore. Put the smoke out and just go back to making wildly inappropriate racist comments that everyone just seems to ignore and forgive because you’re old.

Just to be safe, the words “put” and “out” shouldn’t be used in the same sentence with this one.

It’s not been that long (three or four years) since folks in Kentucky were allowed to light up “just anywhere” – EMTs smoking on ambulances, nurses and cleaning people lighting up in patients room in the hospital. They were the last state in the country to ban smoking indoors. Granny hasn’t gotten the word.

She is in KY. While I am pretty sure you can’t smoke in Walmart there you can most other places. She probably didn’t even think about it and just lit up. However to answer the question hell yeah I would tell her to put it out!!!!!

I would like to make 2 points:
1) I wouldn’t go near her with a 50 foot pole.
2) She’s only 46.

“This woman is in fact only 23 years old. These are the faces of marijuana:” marijuana doesn’t do this to you, meth does.

Hey Boston you may be close. I have a brother in his 40′s that smokes 3-4 packs a day between oxygen doses. He can’t walk 50 feet without gasping and there are some corpses that look better. He looks over 70

@Lady Anne, get your facts straight. I live in KY and only certain cities imposed a smoking ban. They just recently started voting on a possible state wide smoking ban. Smoking has been banned in my city since 2007 but I’ve been to other cities in Kentucky where you can smoke indoors. You just can’t smoke in chain stores such as walmart, mcdonalds, etc since they’ve always had a no smoking sign on their front door but locally owned businesses you can if the owner allows it.

Heck yea I would tell her to put it out. I would have to really fight the urge to just walk up and yank it out of her mouth and put it out for her while not so nicely reminding her it’s illegal to smoke IN a public building for a reason!

@watertender I’m so sry to about your brother. we are all human and we do all make mistakes.I’m sure if you asked he would say he might regret ever picking up his first cigarette.that’s what my father told me before he passed in 2008. he was diagnosed with COPD,chronic obsessive pulmonary disease, aka emphysema in 2003. he couldn’t walk 20′ without stopping to catch his breath. he was 69 when he passed and unfortunately looked almost 80 yrs old.in 2007 his doc asked him to try to quit(he was at 2 packs/day).on his 4th day , he collapsed and fainted, then rushed to ER.his body was thrown into shock; it basically needed some sort of nicotine in his body to slowly ween himself completely off.ur story about ur brother brought all my memories back of the last 5 yrs my father was sick. he was in hospice care at our house for one month until it was his time to go. maybe you can share this story with ur brother. maybe it can inspire him to slowly ween himself down. after I held my dads hands on his last night he said to me “sweetheart, I can hear the angels.the angels are singing.” I was 18 at the time.I’m trying to let go all of my regrets.I regret that he couldn’t hear me scream I love you.I regret I didn’t spends enough time with him.I regret that he didn’t kno how much I love him.I didn’t tell him enough growing up.maybe he doesn’t kno how much I love him. show your brother that not only his he suffering, but eventually you will suffer too.show him that he does have the will power to quit.and if he does, it will add many years to his life, many memories you two will create, and cancel out numerous regrets either of you may possibly have on the future.much love <3

@ Michael – I don’t live in Kentucky, so I’m not privy to all of the ins and outs. I do have a friend who has a trach, and lives in or near Berea. When she becomes ill she cannot go to the hospital because of the conditions I mentioned: the EMTs blow smoke in her face in the ambulance – while she’s on oxygen, and the people who come in to clean her hospital room also smoke. She has to stay home and the doctor comes to the house.

The real question *I* have is “Are all you anti-smoking people STILL going to bitch and moan about smoking, when that “smoking” is somebody with a joint!?” Hey, smoking is smoking isn’t it?
(And no, I quit smoking in ’94)

Yes, George, it’s all they know how to do.

February 17th, 2013
