The Girl Scout Bandit
TAYLORSVILLE — Police are looking for a thief who walked up to a group of Girl Scouts selling cookies outside a Taylorsville store and made off with their money.
Investigators say members of Troop 2532 were selling cookies at a stand outside a Walmart store when a man in his 20s approached them late Saturday afternoon.
Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department says the man acted as if he was going to buy some cookies, then reached across the table for the cash box and ran away with it.
The man fled in an older model silver 4-door sedan driven by a woman.
The amount of money stolen wasn’t disclosed but police say it represented all the cash proceeds from a day of selling more than 1,000 boxes.
The money was targeted to help the homeless and pay for Girl Scout camp.

I don’t mean to blame the victims since they’re just kids but the adult leader that’s always with them should have never let that box of money hold more than a hundred or so for change. Those cookies sell for $4 and up now don’t they? That’s four grand or more in a tin box!

They should’ve started chucking boxes of cookies at him as he ran away.

No one had a camera on their cell phone? Get the license number in a pic or write it down, they can’t outrun a radio!

Man, but Girl Scouts have declined since I was one. My troop would have chased that thief down, hog tied him, and called a cop. If he had made it to his car, we would have taken out his tires with our pen knives. Sheesh! What’s the world coming to when a troop of scouts can’t take out a crook! At least get a picture of the license plate!!

They now know who the guy was and the woman driver is already in jail. Probably dope heads. But they don’t expect to recover the money.

they should never of kept that much cash in their box. The adult leader should of taken out the large bills at least and only left the small bills in for change to be given.
