I think it is perfectly fine that she wears this symbol. Jews wear symbols that promote Zionist or Israeli ideology all the time and that seems to be perfectly acceptable. The Zionist movement persecutes Arabs and Muslims to the same extent that the Nazi movement did to Jews, if not worse. As far as this symbol, in this particular context (swastika in a white circle with a read background, i.e. Nazi Party flag) being racist, that’s just not true. Judaism is not a race although in biblical context it is refered to as such though the Nazi Party was against the religion and culture, so to say that the Nazis were racist based soley on the Holocost is misleading. But even if you do want to say that this item of clothing is offensive because of racism (particularly to blacks) this would also be hipocritical because it is perfectly acceptable to wear Malcom X and/or Black Panther clothing and to support racist Ideals such as supporting the Jenna 6 incident/movement.

The history of a symbol, or the etymology of a word are useful when studying how they were used circa their origin… but things change. And what matters when studying someone from the present, is how they use symbols and words relative to now.
The fact that non-white can wear a hate or violence based shirt shouldn’t mean that we should relax the social expectation to not wear a swastika, rather it should mean that we need to work toward ridding any hate or violence based statements. (such as beating someone up for wearing a swastika…)

The swastika, or better yet, the Fylfot is an ancient, holy symbol that has been used by every culture or faith at one point or another in history. And the whole angle change argument is crap because there are examples far older than the formation of the Nazi party where the symbol is set at a variety of angles. I’m sorry you don’t enjoy the same level of freedom as we in the “good old USA” do. There’s a section of our Constitution known as the First Amendment that all other countries lack; it allows Americans to say and do things that would get them arrested in other countries. When I travel beyond our borders, I must always remember that other people are not able to speak freely. As a traveler, the same oppressive laws apply to me and I must admit, it is a strange feeling to have your speech (and by extension, thoughts) regulated. I don’t expect you to be able to fathom true freedom of speech, but other well travelled Americans know what I mean. It’s not your fault, you just don’t really know what “freedom” is. Let’s pretend for a second that your public health care system is superior (it’s not), I would be happy to retain our inherent rights (free medical care IT NOT a right) and go without an inefficient, government run healthcare system.
The simple fact that this woman would be arrested in most European countries for simple WEARING A SHIRT boggles my mind. (It goes without saying that it represents a bad thing, however) Kaz, I feel sorry for you and hope you can one day enjoy the level of freedom that we have here in the states.

The reason your retail and hospitality staff make $18 an hour is because your dollar is not worth as much as the US dollar and you don’t tip. As far as crime goes, if you look at a list of the most dangerous cities in the world, you most likely see only one city in the U.S. and on some lists, NONE!! This is a country of choice, and many people CHOOSE to live here because it is better than so many other places in this world. Anyone in this country who requires medical care, receives it. They can walk into any county or city hospital and be treated. We do not encounter long wait times for necessary tests like MRIs and CT Scans. We have standardized tests to ensure that our children are learning, rather than sending out people who don’t meet a minimnum standard of education into the world. There are a great many people who have put their lives on the line to receive an education in this country. Before you start spouting off nonsense from behind a screen, check your facts. You didn’t even state where you are from that is so much better than the good old US of A, and if you had, I am sure that I can find the issues that plague YOUR country.

The swastika is used across a number of countries as the link I have provided shows. It is mainly used in India as part of the Hindu and Buddhist religions.

Ahh the good old Freedom of Speech argument. As an Australian living overseas I have to say we have just as much freedom as you do but maybe a little more tact. On some level surely you would agree that your level of ‘freedom’ is the root of many of your problems? And how much freedom do you really have when you can’t even venture into certain areas of your cities without running the risk of being shot?
Maybe Europe is restricted with their freedom of speech but I’ve found Aussies and New Zealanders to be much more open minded and outspoken than many of the very conservative Americans I have encountered.

False, false, and false (well, true in that the intention of standardized tests is to ensure proper education, but false in that they don’t actually accomplish that).
1. The law only says that hospital ER’s are required to see anyone who comes in regardless of ability to pay — not that they are required to TREAT those people. This means that if you can’t afford the hospital bills and you walk in dying of cancer, you will simply be triaged/stabilized, diagnosed, and tossed right back out on the street. They don’t have to actually treat your cancer, and they most likely won’t because they cannot afford it. Even nonprofit establishments set up specifically to treat the poor are losing their financing and can’t treat the vast majority of people who need it, particularly in states like mine (Texas) where health care costs are some of the highest in the nation.
2. Plenty of people encounter long wait times for tests, appointments with practitioners, etc. Even rich people who can afford the ‘best’ (or at least most sought after) — sometimes ESPECIALLY those people, since more demand means more people in line. I’ve sat around in waiting rooms for entire days, even when I had an appointment scheduled way in advance, and I’ve been on waiting lists for months to see doctors/have tests done/get treatments. And I had terrific private health insurance coverage at the time. (Now I have none, because I’m a full-time college student who cannot work while in school due to disability, and no insurance company will touch me with a ten foot pole thanks to my pre-existing medical conditions.)
3. Standardized tests are rife with race/culture/class/etc. bias and can only measure quantitatively, not qualitatively (which is far superior in getting the whole picture of a student’s progress). In addition, the No Child Left Behind Act makes school funding for at-risk populations entirely contingent on standardized test scores, just as passing grade levels/graduating is. This encourages — some might even say forces — teachers to teach only to the test, abandoning anything that won’t be asked on there and making rote memorization the teaching method of choice. (Where do you think you would learn more about history, in a class where you got to take field trips, do projects, work with others, write stuff, and have fun while you were learning, or in a class where you were a handed a list of boring dates & facts and told to memorize them because you’d only pass if you could vomit them back up on a test later?) This is not the way to get kids to learn, particularly if you want them to actually remember what they’ve learned as they grow up, rather than forgetting it all the second they turn in their scantrons. Standardized tests have a place within the educational system, but they also have major weaknesses, and employing them as the only evaluative tool completely ignores those gaps in their usefulness. Children who can’t take them properly fall through the cracks, and even children who can will be programmed to believe that learning is lame and tests are scary, high-stakes, fearsome situations that can crush your entire future if you make a mistake — not exactly the optimum environment for successful performance.

You cannot look at this small sampling of Americans and make judgments about 300 million others. Plus, this site goes out of its way to find the bad, not the good. Also, someone said in that the Walmart’s in their countries do not have weirdo’s like this. Well, according to an interview with the creators of this site they said that they recieved calls and comments from people in Italy, France, and Canada that they experience the same thing. It’s Walmart. It’s cheap and usually open 24-7, obviously there are going to be some weirdos. I must say though, I have never seen some of these things at my Walmart. (No complaints)
All in all, America has its short-comings, but it really is a decent country.
I would have to say the best countries in the world are Norway, Sweden and Japan. (Japan is number one in my books) I decided this because of the infant mortality rate, life expectancy, literacy rate and crime rate.
I am an American. And I’m proud of it now that we’re trying to reform our policies a bit.

I did research Unit 731. While that was of course quite awful (quite awful not even coming close to the true heinousness of the crime), how can you compare it to the Holocaust? While 600,000 may have died in Unit 731, 6 million Jews were murdered, as well as 2 million others that Hitler just didn’t like. They also did experiments on the Jews in captivity while awake. And yes, the symbol does mean other things in other cultures, although as far as I know that particular color scheme seems unique to the Nazis.

I get the impression that a lot of people here are fearful of black men in general, based on the reactions such as “Oh my god she probably got shot/beat up/killed” etc. I just wanted to point out how racist that is! And that sentiment is a big part of what fuels a lot of “white supremacists”, the feeling that they are encroached upon and forced to be extra respectful and tolerant of other groups who don’t always seem to show the same respect.
Personally, I would hold the gentlemen near her in high regard if they didn’t assault her or anything, because that would she greater integrity of character and self control.
On a last note, say NO to race-driven militant groups (and in most cases, militant groups in general!) That goes for all you caucasians, negroid, mongoloid, or what EVER. There are more pressing matters to worry about. And don’t worry about people who wear offensive shirts. At the very least it serves as a reminder of whats happened before and what could happen again when people buy into movements.

Trying this again, it didn’t seem to go through earlier.
First off, the Swastika can be clockwise, or counterclockwise, and was adopted from Indian culture. It is not the defining symbol for white power, it is only the symbol everybody knows best from the Nazi party. Let me also clarify, the Nazi party is not exclusively a white supremacist group, Hitler’s goal was to bring about change for all of Germany, economically, politically, and racially. Read through Mein Kampf and you will see it is not primarily aimed towards eugenics and genocide. Keep in mind, Jewish people were seen as unwelcomed guests in Germany, much akin to the Africans that were set free in the South following the Civil War.
White nationalism today primarily consists of deciding the best interests of the European descendants in America as well as preserving their heritage and rights. You may ask, what rights? Whites have all the power in America. Following the Civil War and a series of civil movements, pressure was put on ‘whites’ to pigeonhole them into white guilt for their actions. Many double standards have been pointed out. While I don’t agree with oppressing any people, giving special treatment does nobody favors. Giving handouts to a group of people is not treating them as equal, and still promotes the boundaries between races. Also, let me debunk the myth that America sailed to Africa and enslaved the people. The slave trade was quite active far before America even set sail to Africa, successful tribes sold their spoils off to other countries as trade, yet America is still put to blame when we ended up liberating them and putting them above all else.
So here we have, a group of people that made a mistake and overcompensated their wrongs, while attempting to promote racial harmony but at the same time segregating the people. Of course there will be resistance, and the Nazi framework was already set for those goals.
They believe interracial marriage is wrong. This is bad how? Many white nationalists will agree that any interracial marriage should be avoided, not just with themselves. The basic consensus is that any group of people should have their own homeland, their own piece of the world, and to preserve the people and the heritage. This really isn’t an unreasonable belief. Would you expect to throw a dozen of people from around the world into one house and expect them to live in harmony? Even slight differences produce conflict, so how do you expect varying cultures to agree on a political level.
Is it wrong to wear a swastika in public? It’s not necessarily ethical, or wise, but perhaps they believe in the National Socialist movement, or perhaps they have beliefs similar to those outlined here. I can think of a few symbols that can have the same aggressive nationalist meanings that would be quite discrete in public, one of which is far more common than you would expect. Flaunting a swastika for aggressive reasons is far more a stereotyping of whites than anything.
If you still wish to continue ripping on this one person for wearing a shirt, just stop and think how many times you have heard somebody called a ‘cracker’ compared to how often you see this. In fact, I guarantee you that term is used far more than any other racial slur. You think she is ignorant, this whole page is full of ignorance. It’s easy to jump on the bandwagon, but not one of you have taken the time to do your research and understand the reasoning behind it. You just go off of stereotypes that have been engraved in your head since birth. In fact, if you even read this far, I commend you for listening to an opposing belief.

I have to say, I absolutely am convinced my decision to NEVER shop at Walmart has been reinforced. Just another reason on top of all the other principled reasons.
