Alright buddy, lose the jeans underneath the capri pants, grab a pair of flip flops and head to the beach. You earned it.

Please, don’t put that bottle back on the shelf. I wonder if this guy lives in a cave in the woods. A hermit with two pair of pants to keep his crabs warm.
Did he leave his meth lab unattended? Has he reproduced? To many questions about this deranged creature. I hope that Washingtons’ kids are safely home. This picture is the creepiest I’ve seen so far.

At our Wal Marts (yes, more than 1), our door greeters are at least 100 years old, they look like Quazimoto or Willy the pimps stupid old ass and couldn’t open a Happy Meal box from McDonalds…..How would you expect these door greeters to enforce any rules at all?

correction: health-code NOT EQUAL policy.
while possibly gross (as per example), there is no health code in any state banning to enter a business/establishment with bare feet. To address OSHA, it concerns employees (not customers) requiring footwear in certain circumstances.
Public places (post office, DMV etc) can not ban anyone without shoes.
however: any private business/establishment can have a POLICY banning barefoot people. heck, they can ban you for wearing purple, any reason — thanks to a still free country.
glad we cleared this up, now move along, nothing to see here.

I’m trying to figure out what is so funny about someone who is either homeless or mentally ill? Sad that someone thought to take his picture to offer up for ridicule, but didn’t offer to buy the guy a pair of shoes and a decent meal.
Wow. . . just wow.

For proof of the first you can check http://www.barefooters.org/health-dept and check the various state letters showing that those signs that many stores post ’shoes required by the Health Department’ are false. For the second, unfortunately I have no link since this was posted on a mailing list rather than the web, but here’s the quote: “They won’t give us anything in writing, but tell the manager you spoke to Mrs. Roberts at corporate. She told me in no uncertain terms that there is NO “shoes required” policy for Wal-Mart.”
Yes, managers can set their own policies for their local store but all those who claim this is either a law or a chain-wide policy are wrong.
Oh, and as for dirt, our skin is made to keep pathogens out & feet are easily washable, as long as you don’t prop your feet up on the table you won’t catch anything from going barefoot. Also germs don’t jump off bare feet onto the products any more than off the soles of shoes or off the exposed skin in a flipflop. And foot fungus is rare among those who go barefoot regularly; it is called athlete’s foot for good reason, it spreads in damp places like locker rooms, where people go barefoot only briefly before putting on closed shoes again. The fungus needs that dark, damp and warm place to grow, step in it barefoot and remain barefoot all day and it won’t take hold.

Hookworms were very prevalent in the Southeast before the 1930’s. Even there they are rare since modern plumbing has replaced the outhouses, and they never were much of a problem in cooler and drier climates. Also, the worm doesn’t move very fast, they don’t creep around far from where the feces, and then you have to stand around for a while in a place where someone has defecated, if you just step on it briefly it won’t be able to penetrate the skin. No matter how dirty some of the Walmart customers may be, I doubt the isles are a serious risk for picking up hookworm infection.
Other worms that penetrate the skin are even less likely to be found at a Walmart or in the US at all -strongyloides are even more of a tropical/subtropical parasite although they may occur in the Southern states occasionally, and schistomes are found only in parts of South America and the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East, and even there the larvae spread only in water, not on dry ground.
Last of all, just in case I do somehow pick up some worm in a particularly dirty campground while on vacation in a place where it is still common, don’t worry, I can pay for my own deworming. I have a fine job (yes, barefoot
) and full health insurance. But thank you for your concern.

One of the truly weirder ones I’ve seen here.
There have been gaudier getups by far, but when I try to put my head into the space of putting on those jail pants over a pair of jeans,….it truly boggles the mind. Where’s my thorazine?

I have athlete’s foot right now and I don’t even go barefoot around my house. And yes, there are definitely health risks — ever had plantar warts? It took me almost a year to get rid of those things. They’re nasty and they HURT. (I caught them from the shower at the local pool)
As for his big toe, it looks like he’s wearing a bandage.

Guinastasia, athlete’s foot is caught easier by going barefoot only briefly in locker rooms than by going barefoot elsewhere. It’s a fungus, it needs a warm, damp place to spread and grow. In an isle at the store or on a sidewalk, the spores will dry up and die very quickly even if someone who had athlete’s foot walked there. You would have to walk right behind that person to pick up the spores (airline security lines are a place of risk with dozens of people who just took off their shoes walking barefoot in line). On a locker room, bathroom or a poolside floor the spores can stay alive for a bit longer and are thus picked up by others.
And then, even if you picked up the spores, you’d have to put your foot back into a shoe for it to take hold (preferably a closed shoe, and even better if you play sports so you sweat and make it even warmer and damper in there). On the skin of a bare foot, exposed to sunlight and fresh air, it is unlikely the spores will be able to catch hold and grow even if you did get some on you.
Warts are a virus but are also more likely to infect you when you have soft, vulnerable skin than when you’re often barefoot. I picked up a plantar wart almost immediately in the college dormitory, when I still wore footwear full-time, yet I haven’t caught a single one in the 14 years of going barefoot. You’re describing typical problems from shoe-wearers who have to protect their feet *all* the time or immediately pick something up when they put their soft, vulnerable soles on the floor for only a moment, trying to convince people going barefoot as a regular thing is a health risk!
