There was a Wal-Mart wedding at my local store (New Castle, PA–boo yaaa!) a couple of years ago. Two employees got married. As I recall, the bride was much older than the groom, and they wore their blue vests. And jeans. And t-shirts. I wonder if they’re still married? Next time I go I’ll have to ask.

I work at a Wal-Mart in Missouri. We had a person get married in our store. SO STUPID!! Wal-Mart pays for all kinds of stuff for the ceremony, but the one rule is you have to have enough cake and refreshments for any customer that wants any. So stupid people will be all up in your ceremony mouthing off cause the cake is gone.

I used to work at Home Depot, and we had a wedding there once. No flowers, dress, etc, though. The couple came up to the Service Desk with a Justice of the Peace and asked me if I was over 18. I was-everyone who works there is. So then they asked me and a Head Cashier and me to witness their wedding, right there at the desk. Pretty surprising.

So, are wedding services for employees considered a taxable benefit? Were they required to still work while being wed? “Hi, I’m the bride, welcome to WalMart! Won’t you join us for some cake while you’re shopping?”.

You know this country is F—ed when people actually hold their wedding in Walmart…this is worse than having a trailer park wedding.

Just think, after the ceremony, they can go over to the McDonald’s in the Walmart for the reception dinner, then go to the electronics section for their first dance!

I worked at a furniture where two hicks met while shopping there. They dated about 3 months and then asked to get married at the store. Management thought it would be good publicity so they allowed it, spent money for decorations, reception, the whole thing. Had a local TV station show up for the “human interest” story. Then the guy the bride was currently married to showed up and brought the whole thing to a stop with one punch to the new Romeo’s jaw. We laughed our asses off, ate the cake, drank the champagne and then delivered a bedroom suite to a late day customer. Good lord, that was 25 years ago, in 1984!

In response to the Sam’s club, it’s not Sam’s Club. I worked as a CSM for a few yrs and that’s the back room of a Wal-Mart. The receiving area is warehouse style. I knew a few ex co workers who got married at my old store. Yes, they were redneck. They got married by the registers (she was a cashier). I’m guessing someone out of that couple works in receiving. Oh and they do ‘borrow’ things from other departments to decorate too. So yeah, those are probably Wal-Mart bags around the plants.

Can we assume that the reception will be in the deli department? They can use that fake wooden floor in the shoe and clothing department as a dance floor if they can crank the music in the electronics department loud enough…and trust me — based on my local Wal-Mart — they can.

I’m just curious as to what the return policy is on a Wal-Mart marriage.

    “Do you have your receipt?”
“No,” says the black eyed, bloody beaten soon to be ex-wife.
“Okay, why are you returning the product?”
“… it fell down the stairs…”
“Would you like to exchange, or will it be cash?”
“Cash… wait, can I get a foot massager instead?”

But seriously, I want to know when the “Wal-Mart” adoption center will open up. I literally want a “Kids Section”.

You all should be ashamed of yourselves. This couple that decided to have there wedding at Wal-Mart had their reasons for wanting to. Just because its not in a church or pavilion does not make it trashy or unholy. There is a saying.. “To each their own”. If this is what that couple wanted then so be it. It is not our place to state that it is redneck, white trash, trashy or any other derogatory statement.
I personally would not choose this location for a wedding, but I hope that this couple has many great years together, live a long and happy life and I also wish them the best of luck.

“Hey ya’ll!! Let’s go get married at wal-mart!!”

If some guy asked me to marry him and the destination was wal-mart? That’d be quick trip to the “hell no” bin for him.

Alright, so lets all be honest. That is white trash. I understand budget wedding but they could have done it in a park (with not very many people) for cheaper than that and it would have looked way nicer. Also, this is clearly not a walmart but a sam’s but really all the same thing. I wonder how the bride feels?

Oh my! BUT, the nice thing is. . .
it may be the cheapest wedding option, you know?
I mean, you could just pull some artificial flowers from the craft section, without actually having to purchase them!
You could just roll out a nice beautiful bolt of fine cloth from the sewing department. Roll it across the floor, without actually purchasing a runner!
You could go slip your feet into some nice dress shoes, without having to pay for them!!
My God! How ingenious!! And no one could arrest you for shop-lifting ’cause you never actually left the store with any merchandise!!!!

actually, walmart implemented a supposed morale boost, after it noticed that alot of employees would meet at work and fall in love. so, they said if you meet at walmart, fall in love and decide to get married, that if you want to you can have your wedding in the garden center, and walmart pays for it. so, it was a way of helping out their associates(with something that can cost alot) and also a way of kinda bringing itself attention.

You never know, it could have been like some epic tale of how WalMart changed their lives. Or maybe they met there and it had some sentimental value or something.
Or maybe this is the first WalMart ever opened and they were the ones who invented it, and they built the walls together and then decided they were made for each other.

Or it’s just America. Hell the divorce rate is more than half. Probably because these dudes become sober later and wanted to redo it and pretend like this never happened.

    February 20th, 2010

  306. patty

This is probably one of the worst pics on this site…i just have so much to say. First of all the whole things look very “thrown together”. Nothing matches: the dresses dont match each other and they are not the same style or length, which doesnt look on purpose like some ppl do. The dresses are lavender and the “flowers” are some hideous shade of pink. It looks like they are shoved in some corner of the store. The bride looks like 40 or older and so i am pretty sure this is not her first wedding……that is the ugliest dress i have ever seen. It does not flatter her and there is no way that any normal person would spend any time trying on dresses and then settle on a dress that was so unflattering. and one more thing…..it is just not a good sign when the picture of your wedding cake has a bbq grill in the background.
