He is like a parachute slowing down that drag-racer!! Seriously, pick the kid up or buy him the candy bar he wants. I’m not sure what point you are trying to make by dragging him across the floor of a Walmart.

OH DEAR G**. I am part of the Safety Team at my Wal-Mart, and if I saw any associate walk past that and just keep on walking, I’d be first off pissed at the associate, and second, I’d be asking the mother as politely as I can to please have her some walk or sit in the cart so he doesn’t get hurt, after that, it’s her fault if he does. But seriously, if your kids do this…. DON’T take them shopping with you.

Seriously, maybe in addition to the discount vision and health centers, Wal-mart should add parenting training centers. And anyone who gets caught doing stupid stuff like this will be required to go there every shopping trip until they learn.

I agree with the Walmart employee. I am in insurance and I bet you that if that kid got hurt, the mother would sue the crap out of Walmart (not that she would have any basis) and settle out of court for just enough to put junior through college. It is amazing how many STUPID lawsuits that come across my desk for stunts like this. The sheer stupidity of people is the reason that some of us have jobs. It is so sad.

I’ve left full carts in the middle of an aisle, I’ve left the store before even getting through the front door, and I’ve put him in the cart if I really needed to get something, but there is NO excuse for dragging your kid like that.

If this were my kid, first of all, they wouldn’t be doing this. No kid of mine would be allowed to get away with this. I certainly wouldn’t have gotten away with this when I was little. Second of all, if he tried, I’d pick him up and sit his sorry butt out in the cart and if he STILL started acting up, then I’d leave my cart right then and there, take him and leave the store, and then come back later when Dad was home to watch the kid and I could go by myself.

lady, if this is how your kid behaves in public, you need to take him home and teach him how to behave. i don’t want to hear he’s cranky, had a long day, etc. this behavior is inexcusable. and so are you for allowing it to happen and not taking him out of the store.

Crim….I agree that parents and kids need silly fun, but not once did the fun I had with my kids include dragging them through a store on their bellies. There’s nothing germaphobic about recognizing the fact that a “mopped” does not mean you know the condition of the mop, or that we ignore things like the swine flu going around, or the safety issues involved. I had tons of fun with my sons and they never had to play like that to enjoy life. Know what else is a nice way to interact with your kids? Talking, laughing, pushing them while they stand on the rails, engaging them in helping. But letting them play with plastic bags over their heads and dragging them face first on a store floor is just trashy.

@Crimthann, that’s fine if you do that sort of thing at home, but it’s not acceptable behavior in a public place. There are other ways to engage your children and keep them occupied and have fun with them in public than by allowing them do do something dangerous. There is a time and a place for silly fun and for certain types of silly fun.

Would you allow your kids to run around and have silly fun at someone’s funeral or wake? Would you allow your children to run around and crawl on the floor under tables in a public restaurant? Kids also need to learn when and where it is appropriate to do certain things. We all know it is not appropriate to run around and act silly at someone’s funeral. We all know that it is also not appropriate to crawl around on the floor of a restaurant, either. To allow kids to do certain things when it is not appropriate not only shows a gross lack of good judgement on the parents’ part, but it also shows an enormous amount of selfishness and lack of respect towards other people. This may be reading waaay to much into one picture on a humor website, but when children do not learn where the limits are, it will set them up to fail as adults.

Are you kidding me, you people need to stand up to the kid! Stop shopping, take the kid out of the store and tell him he will not go into the store again until he can act decent.
An employee should have said, “Miss, I will put away your shopping if you wish to go home.”
Give him a candy bar?! Stupid advise, DO NOT give into terrorist!
Kids love to go shopping with Mom or Dad, the worse thing they can do is not let the monster go shopping with them.

If I ever did anything like that, my mom woulda beat my ass!! I’m getting tired of these little bastards thinking they can run rings around their parents, because their parents will get ACS called on them SO fast if they even raised their hand to their child…even though the kid deserves an ass kickin for acting like that!! Now, I’m not saying beat the kid until he’s unconscious or anything…but giving them a good spanking builds character. In my house, my mom used one thing that kept us in line: Fear. She made us FEAR the ass whuppin that she’d give us if we didn’t behave…Something that parents today just DON’T seem to know how to do.

Today’s parents have gotten more and more stupid. Which proves my theory that stupid people are finding other stupid people and they’re having little stupid children who grow up to be even more stupid teenagers who grow into stupid adults only to repeat the cycle all over again!!

I have very distinct memories of my mother leaving me and my younger sister standing next to the cart at the grocery store watching our younger baby brother while she dragged our older brother out of the store to the van and then they would come back and he would be doing that sucking lip thing or he would not come back at all and when we were done shopping he would be sitting in the car…on his side not his butt. We didn’t do crap like that at the store and heaven help us if our father was with us

clearly it’s a walmart based on the signs in the background and the fact that the cart says walmart on the side of it. but no matter what the store, nobody should be dragging their kid on the floor…not even at home! i’m a mom whose kid has thrown tantrums and fits in the store and he’s tried to lay down on the floor (a habit at home) but i think that is so GROSS and don’t allow it. people need to have some control over their kids, it’s not that hard!!!

After that, we would not be allowed to go shopping with mom again. And we didn’t DARE do anything like this with dad. Ass beating for sure.

Actually, I threatened to do exactly this to my granddaughter. She was too big to ride in the cart, and didn’t want to ride by standing on the front and holding on to the basket, or simply walk beside me. She wanted to hang on the side, which tipped over the entire load. I told her she could stand on the front of the cart or I could drag her through the store by one leg. She could take her pick. Fortunately, she decided to ride on the front. It’s illegal to leave the kids in the car while you shop, and going back home, finding a sitter and heading back out again isn’t always feasible. Chances are the kid was only dragging a few feet and got up again, as it wasn’t ringing Mom’s chimes nearly as loudly as he hoped.

    Here is how this happened:
    1. Pharmaceutical companies create a new drug and needs patients for it.
    2. Doctors convince parents their children have a disease (ADD,ADHD, EIEIO, etc) and prescribe drugs.
    3. Parents now have a medical excuse for their child’s unruly behavior.
    4. Parents are released from parenting duties, after all, they can’t be held responsible for their child’s behavior. Not their fault, child has a disease.

When I was growing up, we didn’t have kids with discipline problems and they didn’t need to be drugged. We had parents that kicked our asses. An ass kicking tends to refocus the child better than any drug invented.

So why on earth would she NOT take advantage of one of the specialty carts, get the brat off the floor, and strap the kid in one of those? We are looking at a future Darwin Award winner here.

Maybe i’m a little jaded, having three small ones so young, but I’ve finally figured out a way to tackle this kind of situation. And it doesn’t involve dragging my kid across the floor. I’ll say something like, “Oh, wow.” Then, I’ll turn away from the kid and WALK AWAY. They hate this. Their whole point was to get your attention. It takes about 2 seconds for the kid to jump up and run after you. They get embarrassed, and a little afraid that they’re about to get left behind. Lesson learned.

Now if MY kid wanted to throw a temper tantrum in the store, I just LET him— Then looked at him, and asked if he was done. Then he was told that he wasn’t getting what he was crying for BECAUSE of his crying. It seemed to work…

So I can understand if this mom is trying the “ignore the tantrum” technique.

I’m just glad my kid never got that creative, because I’d have to take him between clothes racks and swat his little hand.

I threatened to do pretty much the same thing to my granddaughter at one point. She was too old/large to fit in the seat, and didn’t want to either walk beside me or stand on the front of the cart and let me push her. Instead, she wanted to hang on the *side* of the cart, which made the entire thing tip over. I told her she could walk beside me and act her age, stand on the front of the cart, or lay on the floor and I would pull her through the store by one leg. She chose the first option.

Let’s face it – taking the kid out and putting him in the car to consider the error of his ways is illegal, dusting his britches will probably have child protection down on your head, and going back home isn’t always feasible. Chances are he’ll stop this in a few minutes when he discovers it isn’t ringing mom’s chimes as loudly as he hoped.

Here in the US, at current rates of growth we’ll triple our population over the next 100 years. That’s close to where China is today: millions of migrants cramming into congested cities, poisoned air and environment, and a brutally enforced one-child policy to keep the population down. So encouraging planned pregnancies and parental responsibility is somehow “bad”?

What a little brat, I’d have smacked him and sat his butt down in the cart whether he liked it or not. I don’t like kids and this is just another reason to stay away from them… what happened to good parenting? This is not good parenting! Yeah, Imma just drag my kid across the floor where he can contract Lord knows what diseases as he licks the floor… gross, sick, nasty, disgusting. I’d no more let a kid near the floor than I would let him play in traffic.

Im sure he had to go to the hospital for a stomach virus soon after.

Whatever happened to taking those little bastards in hand? If I’d have even THOUGHT about doing a TENTH of the shitska I see these children doing in these photos, I wouldn’t have had an ass left to sit on! And don’t get me started on those damn leashes! Although I’ll admit it’s funny as hell when one of those little hellraisers tries to outrun a bungee leash and that snap back sends ‘em flying, but that’s another story. No, I mean whatever happened to the mental leash? You know, when you took one step too far from your mother and all she had to do was LOOK at you and you got your narrow ass back where it belonged! And while I’m on that subject, I think we oughta bring back preventive asswhoopin’! Sit your child down and let them look through the parenting category with you. “See what these kids are doing, youngin?” “Yeah..” “You know what’s gonna happen to you if you try that?” “No, what?” **SMACK!!** “OW!!” “THAT’S what’s gonna happen!”

This what you get when people ARE NOT allowed to spank their children. Drag him on the floor? Spank him and put an end to that crap. The parents are supposed to be in charge, NOT the obnoxious little whelps they call children. If I had EVER behaved like that, it would have only happened once and then I would have had a WELL DESERVED sore @$$ for a few days. For all you bleeding hearts who think I am just evil and hateful, my two cats (as in felines) behave better than 90% of the children I see out in public. That is just sad.

If LOVINGLIFE is right and this behavior is being encouraged, I agree with the “the (grand?)parent is a freak” comments. If the kid is throwing a tantrum, I have been “that guy”. Never, never, never give in to a kid having a tantrum. Their little steel trap minds remember “the last time I pitched a fit in the store I got what I wanted”. So then every trip to the store becomes a tantrum when little Johnny doesn’t get his candy bar and you cave … then it’s two candy bars. And a cookie. And a toy. And a drink. Or you just ignore it altogether, it’s done in 5-10 minutes, and you don’t have to deal with it again.

To those who suggest “getting a sitter”, 1) I am not made of money to pay a sitter every time I need a gallon of milk and 2) the next words out of your mouth will likely be something about “out of control kids that don’t learn manners”. Well, sometimes teaching kids manners isn’t a pretty process. Sorry you had to hear it, but just think — in the long run you only have to deal with this once. Sorry you had to be there for it, but if you don’t want to encounter kids in the store, go shopping with the lonely people Friday or Saturday nights, or the freaks who shop at midnight or 3 AM.

dear god. there are so many things wrong with this. that is DISGUSTING. not only is she dragging him across the floor, but it’s a floor at WALMART. ewww. i mean after seeing some of the stuff on this site, i wouldn’t even want to walk on the floor there, let alone drag a child on it. and then there is the whole, wtf is wrong with that woman. seriously? no, just no.

Hey, here’s a concept that works: stop the cart, move it off to the side, pick your child up off the floor, walk out without scolding him. go to your car, place them in their seat, get in, drive home, take child inside and place them in their room. Then tell child that their behaviour at Wal*Mart was immature and that future displays of such behaviour will result in the exact same responses, no excuses, no warning. Then lock the door and leave for an hour, let the child rant and flail all they want. They tire out. It works well, even on ‘incorrigible’ kids. YOU are in control, not them.

It’s a new form of resistance training. The cart isn’t heavy enough for her to get a good workout in yet, so she drags the kid until she loads the cart up with her jumbo sized packages of Smores ingredients.

The kid looks like he’s practicing his swim form. Maybe he’s a future Olympian!

Yup probably shouldn’t do that… But I betcha a dollar no one is willing to stand up and say “Hey Lady, quit draggin your kid on the floor or get out of this store”!

KEN… AH yer killing me LOL!!!

I wonder if WALMART ever would stand up and have thier staff ask this stellar parent to leave?

No accountability… even for unacceptable social behavior like this. People are too afraid of doing the right thing for fear of being repremanded by those idiots who have “rights”. Our Moral Compass is broken.
