It’s not like someone couldn’t just walk by and take that baby while big man is down for the count.

I guess sleeping babies in the basket of shopping carts happens all the time at Walmart. If only there was one big enough for adults.

Amusing but he really should have taken the wee beastie out of the cart before catching some zzzzs.

The baby probably would have liked dozing on that nice soft belly!

I’ve come across situations like this before. I’ll stand and stare intently until they wake up. Then I just smile and walk away.

It creeps them out enough that they start paying more attention to their baby.

Of course one of these days I’ll get arrested I’m sure. :(

Obviously taken at a Super Wal-Mart. He’s exhausted trying to find what he’s looking for. And since the cart is empy (except for the baby) it means he’s like the rest of us and can’t find anything we’re looking for in those damn huge places.

Kinda makes you wonder how many people have stolen Walmart carts and made cribs out of them. Cute pic, but my first thought was how easy it would be for someone to take that baby. If I was the kids mother, I’l come along, take him out of the cart, walk away and scare the shit out of daddy.

If you haven’t lived through the sleeplessness of having a baby, then please take a chill pill.

Nobody’s going to take the cart or the kid. He’s got his feet on the cart, and any newborn’s dad will jump at the slightest whimper of their child.

I’d call this poor judgment, but nothing worthy of calling the cops or CPS. If you would call CPS over this, then perhaps you should worry more about your own life, and stop trying to rule everyone else’s.

I pulled this move (without the baby) with my dad at a Sam’s Club in Kentucky. We had an hour to kill while they put new tires on the car. Went and got some hot dogs and fountain drinks, made our way to the home furnishings aisle, and kicked it in some plush leather chairs. Not once did we see an employee.

Guys, you have to understand the context of how a picture is taken. I happen to know this that this is the Walmart store manager, and he “secretly” lives in the store with the infant boy he found abandoned there last week at closing time. His assistant manager/girlfriend stayed the night with him and took this family portrait.

I’m not a parent, but I take care of 12-24 month olds at my church during first service. I know how exhausted parents of those that age can get. Yes, he could have held the baby on his chest, but probably was so tired he didn’t even realize he was going to konk out. Something tells me Mom wasn’t more than a few feet away. Okay, now I’m ready for all of you to start throwing darts at me for being optimistic….

Ok I will admit I myself have done the blankets in the shopping cart thing to let the kid sleep while I’m shopping. Its easier than getting the stroller out of the car when I’m feeling lazy. I cant say Ive fallen asleep in a Walmart though.

Dads are like this. They don’t think like women do. I can see why he wouldn’t hold the baby because if I was dosing off I would drop whatever was in my hand. Maybe he should be doing this in his car with the doors closed. Maybe he is not really sleeping but resting sometimes I close my eyes even though I’m awake. Only thing that happens in DCFS is your kids will be used for money.

It IS a baby. The “paw” in the front has a THUMB. It has human ears. The blue thing under the white boppy looking pillow seems to be one of those cart covers which the little round green toy is attached to.

What’s up with all the infants inside shopping carts? Both the babes featured on PoWM in shopping carts are still small enough that they’ll fit in one of those infant car seats that will snap onto the cart. Makes me wonder how the parents are getting those kids home. Bet they don’t have car seats at all. Yeah, really safe.

To everyone thinking its an animal:

I thought it was too. It looked like the head was toward the back of the cart(where you push), in which case it makes perfect sense as an animal.. The way the “front” paws would be bent, then the back legs..

    BUT

Look closely.. The white part which when you think its an animal would be right behind its front legs is the diaper which you can barely see..
Then when you look closely down where the “back/butt” would be on the animal, you can make out some blondish hair and two little arms..

The thing that gets you with this picture is the fact that the baby’s hair blends in so well with the skin… But it’s confirmed, its a baby.. You can even see his little ear :)

Cute, and I agree with others its most likely the mom taking the picture.. Thats about the age where one of the parents would be up all night with the baby.. then they both sleep all day :P

Not that I agree with the man sleeping, but as for the baby sleeping, i have done that with my son. Not often, but sometimes. He’s too big now for the car seat you carry and sometimes I have to take him with me, no matter that its naptime. So I throw a cushy blanket down and let him sleep. Doesnt last long though, he usually wakes up when we hit those damn bumpy things at the entrance :-)
