I think it’s awesome. Degrade the meaning of the symbol through overuse and in situations in which are sure to piss off the people who actually buy into that crap.
I am more shocked that this was submitted in California – but at the same time, the fact that she is with two black guys (who look like my brothers?) seems so typically Californian.

The Nazis may not have had a campaign against black, but, white supremacists have adopted the symbol and therefore, it does indicate racism against all minorities. Legal but a blatant display of ignorance and a tiny brain.
Yes, it is illegal in Germany and Austria. I think anyone with half a brain would be able to figure out why. No, Dachau wouldn’t sell anything like that. If you had ever visited any former concentration camps, you would know why. I cannot imagine where she would have gotten it, but I don’t want to shop there! And yes, Nazis are against blacks. They are called Neo-Nazis and would be the only people in this day and time who would wear that! Ever heard of the KKK? Full of Neo-Nazis! I’m ashamed to say she is an American. Even free speech should have its limits.
Wah wah she wore a shirt…here’s a tip, if you ignore it you do the opposite of the desired effect. It was clearly worn for attention. Free speech should have its limits? The entire basis behind free speech is to protect the right to say things that we do not agree with. Otherwise everything that is or was considered taboo, even if it was never “wrong”, would result in a jail sentence if preached.
Gay rights, women rights, black rights…these were all scoffed at, at one point during our history. Where do you draw the line on what is appropriate taboo and criminal taboo?

The way you can tell is that the Nazi’s turned their swastica to 45-degree angle to denote “Movement”. The traditional Indian good luck symbol is always pointing East-North-South-West i.e. sitting flat on the ground, not at a 45-degree angle.
Lester, I hope you are being sarcastic. If not you are a moron. This photo is wrong in so many ways. I’m white and if I saw someone wearing this I would immediatly kick them in the face. All of you American’s stating you live in a ‘free’ country and therefore can do whatever you want.
Pretty much all of Western Europe are ‘free’ countries but there are laws regarding nazi symbols because of what happened over here. It is a specific law regarding that one symbol. You can’t sell it and to wear it is seen as inciting racial hatred. You can wear whatever the hell you like but that specific symbol is part of a race hate law.

The Sanskrit Swastika rotates to the right. The Nazi Swastika rotates to the left. The symbol seems to have appeared in art and literature about the time a large comet was seen face-on (from the Earth’s vantage point). The comet was rotating to the right, thus the ancient depictions. The Nazis rotated it to the left partly to avoid confusion with the historical swastika and partly out of mere defiance.

The “Swastika” was actually the symbol of Good fortune, power, strength, etc…until the Nazi’s used it as their symbol. It has been used for over 3,000 years. The “Sauvastika”, a reversed Swastika, is actually the “Bad Fortune” symbol! Since the Nazi’s pretty much made the image the biggest negative image ever…people have tried to reverse the meanings of the two symbols…but in reality, the Swastika still means good fortune.
However…I don’t think I would ever want to wear the image!
Maybe not in public but i like to do it private when I play horny retard teabagger with my wife. What? I can’t help thinking of conservatives when i see Nazi symbols. …i learned it from you Bob!! I learned it from you!!

hilarious a simple symbol brought out all the liberal whackjobs and internet tough guys (”i’d kick her a** if I saw her”)
I think it is perfectly fine that she wears this symbol. Jews wear symbols that promote Zionist or Israeli ideology all the time and that seems to be perfectly acceptable. The Zionist movement persecutes Arabs and Muslims to the same extent that the Nazi movement did to Jews, if not worse. As far as this symbol, in this particular context (swastika in a white circle with a read background, i.e. Nazi Party flag) being racist, that’s just not true. Judaism is not a race although in biblical context it is refered to as such though the Nazi Party was against the religion and culture, so to say that the Nazis were racist based soley on the Holocost is misleading. But even if you do want to say that this item of clothing is offensive because of racism (particularly to blacks) this would also be hipocritical because it is perfectly acceptable to wear Malcom X and/or Black Panther clothing and to support racist Ideals such as supporting the Jenna 6 incident/movement.
If those two guys are with her, (and I hope they’re not), I’m sure the shirt is the least of their concern. They might not even know what it symbolizes. Their main concern, I’m pretty sure, is getting what’s covered by the shirt.
Really, I expect she wore it to piss people off or show her disgust at the Failboat of negritude that is Post Walton Walmart. I call it NogMart now.

GODDDDD. I HATE the endless argument that the swastika is actually a religious cross that goes back blankity-blank years.
Yes, we all recognize how astoundingly intelligent you are for knowing that information, okay? Anyone with half a brain also recognizes that the meaning of that symbol has changed for most of the world. DRAMATICALLY. And you’re a disrespectful douchebag for trying to defend anyone wearing a swastika on a WHITE circle on a RED sweatshirt in America. We all know exactly what the fuck what that means, and I don’t think she’s praying.
“When Hitler created a flag for the Nazi Party, he sought to incorporate both the swastika and “those revered colors expressive of our homage to the glorious past and which once brought so much honor to the German nation.” (Red, white, and black were the colors of the flag of the old German Empire.) He also stated: “As National Socialists, we see our program in our flag. In red, we see the social idea of the movement; in white, the nationalistic idea; in the swastika, the mission of the struggle for the victory of the Aryan man, and, by the same token, the victory of the idea of creative work.” ~text of Mein Kampf at Project Gutenberg of Australia
To the German people in the 1920’s, it was a symbol of hope. Atrocities were committed under that symbol, yes. This particular depiction of it IS FROM the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi Party), however it is more a sign of socialist ideals rather than the persecution and destruction of entire peoples. I’m not defending it. But socialism is just as bad as a Holocaust.
I DO NOT support it. I’m just saying. It’s more of a symbol of socialism. The racism and purge of people based on their religions / appearances came with that flag.
to everyone saying this is ok because other people can wear things supporting zionist ideals or black history or whatever:
tell me, how many other ideals slaughtered millions of innocent people because of their own beliefs?

While I don’t agree with all the tenets of National Socialism, I commend this lady for having the courage to exercise her 1st Amendment rights. She should be cheered for that. Of course, the ignorant will think the swastika is racist, and the even more ignorant will believe the old wartime propaganda about the Nazis. But suffice it to say, she has every right to believe in the economic philosophy of National Socialism. If Malcolm X, Black Power, and Viva la Raza shirts are okay to wear, then wearing a swastika shirt is equally okay. To say otherwise, is to be the posterchild for hypocrisy.
Two things: Penn and Teller’s Bullshit episode on those two fucks branding “I hate Walmart” shirts sums up all the discussion on this page. Two, I thought for sure somebody would bring up the simple question: what does it mean that she’s standing right next to those black guys? Maybe it’s a joke. Because it wasn’t just hatred of jews, it was hatred (and massacre) of all non-aryans. But really, where do y’all get off mocking them, there are plenty of idiots and self-righteous ignorant folk that don’t shop at wal-mart. Don’t just pick on these people.
She probably shit her pants when those black guys walked past her. And the swastika may have originated as a good symbol, but these days it’s associated with the NAZI party and pretty much no one besides neo-nazi inbred mouth breathers think the whole holocaust thing is made up. And maybe Iranians.
Anyone that thinks this is actually the a symbol of the Buddhist faith is an idiot and no better then her. The swastika is set at exact 90 degree angles ALWAYS in Buddhist idols. When the Nazi’s decided to use it for their propaganda they turned it at 25 degrees to differentiate the two symbols. Stop being an idiot. She is a racist piece of trailor trash and so are you if you agree with anything the Nazi’s condoned.
Are those three together or are they getting ready to thank her for being so ignorant that it help everyone know who to stay away from?

Wow, a neo-nazi standing next to like 2 black people. Wow!
If you don’t like swastikas you can go to that country we stole from the Palestinians after we defeated the Germans in WWII.
I’m more concerned about people flying Rebel Flags in West Virginia. Do you people not know you were (ARE) in the North?
Frankly if every country would mandate education and provide free health care, ignorance would become a thing of the past.
Ben Stein once said that if there would have been no Darwin there would have been no holocaust. But we all know that if there were no Jews (I mean religions) there would have been no holocaust.
in all actuallity the swastika is a symbol hitler stole from the irish. it is a celtic symbol that denotes when a country is at war or at peace, depending on the way it is turned. hitler is the one who made it a racist symbol.

im amazed by the number of people ranting about how socialist the nazis were. if you ask me, Hitler used the word socialist to hide the fact he was actually running a fascist dictatorial government. nazism depends on ignorance, and a willingness to make value judgements against people based on race or culture. it was born out of the demented ideals of a sick, twisted individual, who was responsible for the deaths of 6 million jews.
for those who claim communism has killed 10 times this many, i ask what you are talking about? and while headed down this path, i ask if you think christianity, capitalism or democracy has never been responsible for any atrocities? ever heard of the inquisition? the crusades, for pete’s sake?
religion, politics, none of these are the cause. its zealotry, fanaticism, and ignorance all blended together with a dash of apathy and a total lack of compassion.
yes she has the right to believe what she wants, but that is a symbol of hate and is an assault against anyone with any connections to the holocaust, or to any “non-aryan.”
what she needs is a visit to auschwitz, or dachau. see if her favourite hoody is so appealing after visiting a deathcamp.

And she’s in CA? Huh, I guess people will figure it’s her personal expression, or sarcasm, Photshop, or some such BS. If she was in TX, people would take it as further proof that TX is full of redneck Nazi types. Anyway, it’s probably a result of CA being bankrupt- that’s when National Socialism looks most appealing.
The history of a symbol, or the etymology of a word are useful when studying how they were used circa their origin… but things change. And what matters when studying someone from the present, is how they use symbols and words relative to now.
The fact that non-white can wear a hate or violence based shirt shouldn’t mean that we should relax the social expectation to not wear a swastika, rather it should mean that we need to work toward ridding any hate or violence based statements. (such as beating someone up for wearing a swastika…)
A Swastika at Wal-Mart? That’s like ordering a steak at a vegan convention.

the nazis were socialist, even if you don’t agree. Hitler used the word socialist because … he was a socialist. . socialism and communism also depend on ignorance, and a willingness to make value judgments against people based on race or culture or economics. communism has resulted in millions being killed in, oh, let’s see … Angola, Cambodia, China, Poland, Czechoslovakia[sic], Russia, Siberia, The Ukraine, &c ad infinitum… you should study history sometime.
foolish argument: the failings of other belief systems do not justify communist and nazi atrocities… try again.

Lucky for me I don’t live in your Country. I live in a Country where I can walk through the doors of a quality Public Hospital or Doctor’s Office and be treated without charge. In my country Cities aren’t defined by the ‘good’ and the ‘bad’ areas, only by locations. I don’t spend my life looking over my shoulder or worrying about making a wrong turn into a dangerous area. In my Country we have healthy, fresh foods readily available that actually have taste. Our schools systems aren’t plagued by standardised tests and mass shootings. In my country there is no such thing as a minimum wage that forces adult men and women to work for $7 an hour. In fact, most retail and hospitality staff make well over $18 an hour here.
I don’t hate your country, I’m just sad for the state it is in and very, very grateful I wasn’t born in the good old USA.
She wears it because she doesn’t have the courage to tell people directly that she is better than they are because of her color or religion. She is too scared to really speak with freedom. Chicken shit.
lol. notice the two men next to her looking like they are getting ready to go in for the kill. the look on the one dudes face is priceless. girl got some seriousley big balls to wear that shirt out. haha.
You need to do a bit of research before you continue making a fool out of yourself. Jerry is correct. Despite calling themselves National Socialists, Nazism is a form of fascism, not socialism.
Okay, so she wants to strut around wearing a hoody that proclaims, “Hi! I’m Jane, An Ignorant Slut!”. Fine. I don’t see anyone trying assualt or kill her. Also fine. A fringe and collateral benefit of Free Speech is that is often makes it easy to spot the idiots – regardless of politics.
You’re so proud of your amazing country yet you don’t seem to want to say what country that is. You apparently know nothing about America other than the BS you read on parody websites. I for one, have lived in both Canada and America, and if your country happens to be Canada, well you can keep it. Cause there is no such thing as quality anything in that pos country. A ton of drunk hockey fans.. yay. Keep it. And I’m sorry… but living in Toronto, there were plenty places I was ‘recommended against going there’
The swastika, or better yet, the Fylfot is an ancient, holy symbol that has been used by every culture or faith at one point or another in history. And the whole angle change argument is crap because there are examples far older than the formation of the Nazi party where the symbol is set at a variety of angles. Aside from that, it is just a symbol and it has as much power of you as you allow. The cross has just as much infamy as the swastika if you look at history, yet I guarantee no one gets bent out of shape everytime they see one of those.

A black swastika on a white field surrounded by a lot of red. That’s a copy of Adolf’s little flat. Clearly.
I know a group of Japanese folk dancers, who also have swastika on their kimono (you can find swastika on Japanese temples and shrines as well), but the color combo is a different one and they usually don’t only have one.
Black swastika with a field of white surrounded by red, clearly a hint to Adolf.

Maybe you should study up on your history and maybe take a political science class while you’re at it. Can you define socialist government? Can you name a few things that it does? How about communist? As someone who teaches history for a living, you really don’t know what you’re talking about. Hitler’s Nazi regime was a dictatorship! Maybe if you knew what socialism was you wouldn’t have written that. Socialism strives for everyone to be equal. No one progresses without the other. Oh and all those lovely nations you just listed? Try again. They are not true communist states. Many individuals run under the “communist” banner but if you truly look at their nation, they are not communist but their own interpretation of communism. That interpretation includes the vicious killings they have performed. read a book. Do the world a favor. Go to college before you try to be smart.
I’m sorry you don’t enjoy the same level of freedom as we in the “good old USA” do. There’s a section of our Constitution known as the First Amendment that all other countries lack; it allows Americans to say and do things that would get them arrested in other countries. When I travel beyond our borders, I must always remember that other people are not able to speak freely. As a traveler, the same oppressive laws apply to me and I must admit, it is a strange feeling to have your speech (and by extension, thoughts) regulated. I don’t expect you to be able to fathom true freedom of speech, but other well travelled Americans know what I mean. It’s not your fault, you just don’t really know what “freedom” is. Let’s pretend for a second that your public health care system is superior (it’s not), I would be happy to retain our inherent rights (free medical care IT NOT a right) and go without an inefficient, government run healthcare system.
The simple fact that this woman would be arrested in most European countries for simple WEARING A SHIRT boggles my mind. (It goes without saying that it represents a bad thing, however) Kaz, I feel sorry for you and hope you can one day enjoy the level of freedom that we have here in the states.
Enjoy socialism!

When did this become about living in Canada vs. living in the US? Can’t we get back to the point that THIS GIRL IS WEARING A SWEATER WITH A SWASTIKA ON IT! Now I’m more angry at those of you who choose this particular venue at which to have an argument about which country is better, when the reality is we are BOTH equally as lucky simply to be living in a first world country at all. Isn’t the point in hand that the swastika promotes hate? Why can’t we just love one another instead of looking for insults to throw in this entirely inappropriate scenario.

I would like to know where this country is… I would venture to say Australia or New Zealand.
The reason your retail and hospitality staff make $18 an hour is because your dollar is not worth as much as the US dollar and you don’t tip. As far as crime goes, if you look at a list of the most dangerous cities in the world, you most likely see only one city in the U.S. and on some lists, NONE!! This is a country of choice, and many people CHOOSE to live here because it is better than so many other places in this world. Anyone in this country who requires medical care, receives it. They can walk into any county or city hospital and be treated. We do not encounter long wait times for necessary tests like MRIs and CT Scans. We have standardized tests to ensure that our children are learning, rather than sending out people who don’t meet a minimnum standard of education into the world. There are a great many people who have put their lives on the line to receive an education in this country. Before you start spouting off nonsense from behind a screen, check your facts. You didn’t even state where you are from that is so much better than the good old US of A, and if you had, I am sure that I can find the issues that plague YOUR country.
Moving on, hate isn’t limited to the U.S. Hate is universal in this world, and happens everywhere, yes, even in YOUR “glorious” country (which remains unknown). Unfortunately there is too much violence spouted by hate, everywhere. So if you live under the delusion that your country is immune, you are mistaken.

The swastika is used across a number of countries as the link I have provided shows. It is mainly used in India as part of the Hindu and Buddhist religions.
This is ironic as this is a nation of brown skinned people who have used this symbol for thousands of years as part of their culture and yet it is the same symbol used by white supremacist groups.
Re the woman I disagree with her wearing the symbol as it is a replica of the sign used by German Nazi’s but I stand up for her right to wear it.
In response to the guy on the first page, AMERICA IS A FUCKING CRAPPY COUNTRY… and I am proud to tell you where I am from, and that is CANADA. There is no better place to live then Canada. In response to “Bryan’s” post about the Nazis and black people…
Are you serious dude!? Go to a Holocaust Museum sometime or read book. Hitler hated black people and began targetting them, along with the Jews, back in 1936. Remember that one black guy who ran really fast back at the Olympics in Berlin that year, and how Hitler refused to shake his hand because he (Jesse Owens) destroyed every bit of chance the Germans had a winning any competition he was participating in. Not to mention the scores of black people he had wiped out in the years afterward.
It’s ignorant people like you who make stupid, unresearched remarks that make me ashamed of being from the United States.

Ahh the good old Freedom of Speech argument. As an Australian living overseas I have to say we have just as much freedom as you do but maybe a little more tact. On some level surely you would agree that your level of ‘freedom’ is the root of many of your problems? And how much freedom do you really have when you can’t even venture into certain areas of your cities without running the risk of being shot?
Maybe Europe is restricted with their freedom of speech but I’ve found Aussies and New Zealanders to be much more open minded and outspoken than many of the very conservative Americans I have encountered.

“Why would black people be upset?”, etc…
Even if Hitler did not have hated blacks (I have no ideaa),t many modern white supremacist groups have adopted the swastika as a symbol.
Hence, black people would probably be upset.
p.s. I’m not black

Nita says is best, that this picture is uncomfortable to look at. But that is the feeling that a lot of good photography should address. Hopefully there is a slogan on the back of talking #### about racists, but you never know…she could be from santee, el cajon, or lakeside in city of San Diego… good news is that I live near there and not everyone is like that! Really good photo though.

To say otherwise, is to be the posterchild for hypocrisy.

religion, politics, none of these are the cause. its zealotry, fanaticism, and ignorance all blended together with a dash of apathy and a total lack of compassion.
yes she has the right to believe what she wants, but that is a symbol of hate and is an assault against anyone with any connections to the holocaust, or to any “non-aryan.”
what she needs is a visit to auschwitz, or dachau. see if her favourite hoody is so appealing after visiting a deathcamp.

You need to do a bit of research before you continue making a fool out of yourself. Jerry is correct. Despite calling themselves National Socialists, Nazism is a form of fascism, not socialism.

I know a group of Japanese folk dancers, who also have swastika on their kimono (you can find swastika on Japanese temples and shrines as well), but the color combo is a different one and they usually don’t only have one.
Black swastika with a field of white surrounded by red, clearly a hint to Adolf.

I love it when people make posts about how bad such and such is in America, but don’t post whatever shithole they live in. I’m glad you weren’t born in America, too, Kaz. The less in common the better.

I don’t care about rights or anything when I see someone as ignorant and hateful as this, wearing a symbol of extreme hate and intolerance. Wal-Mart should have refused her entry and I don’t care what the ACLU would say. This is just as offensive as can be and should not be tolerated, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.

Yeah, I bet this girl is wearing the sweatshirt and thinking of the swastika as an ancient holy symbol. I’m sure that’s it. HA!

I am fairly sure the guy far right is contemplating the most painful and humiliating way to kill her. Might I suggest a good ole tar and feathering topped off with 120 hours of uniterupted view of One Tree Hill? (Okay that might be too cruel.)

Perhaps this will help aid you and your ignorance.

Maybe Europe is restricted with their freedom of speech but I’ve found Aussies and New Zealanders to be much more open minded and outspoken than many of the very conservative Americans I have encountered.
