People In The South Be Like…

Arctic blasts and polar vortexes are causing ridiculously low temps and even snow down south. Don’t get me wrong, I love the south and never plan on ever moving back north but if there is ever another Civil War all the North needs to do to win is wait until the winter to fight. By the reactions I’ve seen to an inch of snow you’d think it’s the Apocalypse! It’s going to be back up to 65 Saturday where we live. Who needs that much stuff to survive 2 days?!?!

In reference to the picture: They are going to sell it at their gas stations. They probably bought it much cheaper at Wal-Mart than what the dairy charges them to deliver it to their stores. The same goes for soft drinks. It is probably are
rare find, but you should try to support locally owned and American owned
“mom & pop” stores. They appreciate the business!

I live in Southern Ohio – yet people here act like we are in the South when it snows. Whenever they call for 1-3″ (not to be unexpected in Ohio I feel) the store shelves all go empty, the gas stations run out of gas and everyone acts like it is snowmaggedon!

However, I moved here from a much better equipped area of Ohio where I rarely had to drive on slick roads because plows were out in force 24 hours in advance preparing the roads. Moving here was quite a shock – there is less snow here, they rarely treat the roads during a storm and there’s more ice, the first time I had to drive to work on nothing but ice was a challenge, but I made it. I don’t really feel bad for the people in the South right now – either suck it up and deal (be careful, go slow – going fast in a 4WD car just means you’ll spin faster when you spin out) or stay home and stop whining. I’ll just be here thawing from the -20 weather we’ve had here.

That was not something anyone could have planned for down in the south. There was absolutely no snow\ice that morning and then about mid morning everything went to hell. Those of us that live in the south don’t know how to deal with such conditions and some have never thought such a thing could happen. I’m in my mid 20s and I’ve seen snow only once in my entire adult life before this, I do believe the last time my city was shut down due to snow was in ’92. So please don’t judge if southerners seem ill-equipped to deal..

well I live in Philadelphia, we have a few inches of snow today and its a total panic in the stores and with the media. So much for it being a “Southern” thing.

And no one up here can drive in snow either -

Wait for the extreme cold to come to win a war…you might be joking, but that’s how Russia beat Napoleon & his army….but you are absolutely right, us southerners do over-react & it doesn’t help that many of us can’t even drive in the rain, much less ice or snow.

Ah, the snow forecast! I live up here in Western Pennsylvania, and it never fails. I used to work in a grocery store when I was in high school, and every time there was a forecast for a snow storm, we’d have people swarming in to buy milk, bread and toilet paper. Never like THAT, though. Maybe they’re shopping for some neighbors. I hope.
