PoWM In The News: Woman Gives Birth In Walmart Bathroom
A woman gave birth to a baby boy inside a Cañon City Walmart bathroom on Saturday afternoon, multiple managers at the store confirmed.
The woman gave birth to the baby at around 2:10 p.m. inside the bathrooms between the two entrances at the front of the store.
Monica LeDoux is a Walmart employee who said she gave mouth to mouth to the newborn baby boy shortly after it was born.
“She already delivered the baby. She had the baby in her lap, the baby was purple,” LeDoux told the Cañon City Daily Record. “The baby’s mom and the (baby’s grandmother), they were on the phone with 911 and they didn’t know how to do CPR, so all I did was just give it mouth to mouth, and he started moving and he pinked up a little bit.
“He started breathing, so he did good.”
The paramedics told LeDoux that since she gave mouth to mouth to the newborn baby that she should go to the hospital to get checked out. While at St. Thomas More, the doctors told LeDoux that she was fine.
That’s when LeDoux found out that the baby was a boy, she said. During the action of giving mouth to mouth, LeDoux said she never noticed if the baby was a boy or girl.
LeDoux said she heard from doctors that the baby is doing good and is in Colorado Springs and breathing on his own.
LeDoux has never met the family and doesn’t know their names. She said the mother was a young white woman.
